What do you expect from a really, really, really small radio market? It's like that throughout the United States. Big Markets aren't much better as well.

Can't be any worse than the WPDH morning show.....talk about sucking....unlistenable......

warm590 ;D

Geez Louise! What crawled into your headphones?

Agreed, their websites blow, but, come on, try a little constructive criticism (and, no, ""don't suck" is NOT constructive).

And just because Thunder has a decent website, that makes them a solid station? Please.

Sure that midday kid sounds like a, well, kid, but where would you have people break into the business?

I think VOS-FM has a great sound, music, and very solid jocks, especially for the market.

I don't listen much to 'SUL so I don't have an opinion on their morning show. But a slip or a stammer here or there doesn't mean the whole operation sucks!

How would you feel if you were blasted like that. What are your credentials, anyway, other than possession of a computer?

Yeesh.

I can recall myself driving through sullivan county last year and hearing this kid say "F**K and S**t Over the airwaves and this kid still has a job, please! If anyone else did that, like for instance J-Me when he was on K104 the said F- word on air, he was gone the next day.....I guess the place to work is out in sullivan county for no one I guess cares what you say on the radio because no one listens!!!!!!!!

Sounds like sour grapes Steve. When did they fire you?

Ha Ha! I was just going to say the same thing...

I've made a point of listening to 'SUL for the past couple of days, and I like them a lot! The "kid" is just fine, and Anika sounds warm and real.

Not sure what "steve" has against them, but it really does sound like sour grapes. Makes you kind of wonder whether his conscience will ever set him straight, or if he'll just stay bitter.

The websites do blow chunks, though, amazingly in this day and age...

Wow, after reading this I now must reply to this - I worked for WSUL, remember http://www.wsulfm.com/meetthewsulairstaff/codythomas.htmlCody Thomas Oh and Before that I worked on the #1 Morning Show in the Hudson Valley, Woodman In The Morning On K104, Hello Well That would be me! I've been reading this post and I must laugh at you Steve, you sound like a complete Jackass - Yes Thunder DOES have a website and yes they do stream, but that doesn't make them better OR worse then WSUL...Thunder does things in the community, BUT also remember so does WSUL - Trust me - I know I was apart of that station since 2004 until September of 2008. I am PROUD to say I worked and was able to be apart of a GREAT Station as WSUL, its been around since 1977. Do some research buddy. Oh and Ever heard of the WSUL/WVOS Heart A Thon? The Annual Radio-A-Thon it does for Catskill Regional Medical Centers Cardio Pulmonary Department?????? With this tough economy today, it still raised over $46,000 , that's seriously amazing, and it ALL stays in the county.....Helena has alot on her plate, she if I know her is already planning NEXT years HAT! -http://www.sc-democrat.com/news/002February/10/news.htm

On to your "In Site" of WVOS-FM - Voice Of Sullivan of over 60 years. John Moultrie is one of the nicest guy's I've ever met, he's always got a smile on his face and his voice just boom's over the airwaves, I was disappointed I didn't get to see him at the HAT. And Bill James, That guy cracks me up, he's funnier in person, I was glad to see him also, since I didn't get to see him when I left. Chris Ingram, He's a great guy also, He came to WVOS as I left, but I have heard him on air also, he's good too! He has the COOLEST Briefcase OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!! And Mark St James, he's got a set of Pipes on him, and he still owes me a Vanilla Coke....Just Kidding Mark......And The Bop Shop, for 25 Years Running!!!!!!!John Manzi Local Legend.

Now on to WSUL - SUL=SULLIVAN, and its not WE SUCK U LOSE, its actually come Christmas Time "W"here "S"anta "U"sually "L"ingers - Well Eddie Wilson told me that, I thought it was pretty good.

Annika - Oh if you only knew what that women does you would take back what you said and eat your words, That women is busy from the time she goes on air, till the time she leaves, and trust me she works HARD...I always tried to compare my commercial production work to hers, she's magnificent, I learned a-lot from her as to sound quality, pitch tones and so on....LOL - I if you ask MY opinion is one of Thee Best sounding female Disc Jockeys On the radio today....I saw where someone below said she sounds warm and real, well I can honestly say that is 100% True.

Chris Rockett - The Rocketman - Geez give the kid a break its called GROWING INTO YOUR VOICE my friend - and are you kidding, I would DIE to be 20 and being in radio for a year and have MID-DAYS!!!!!! He's got alooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong career ahead of him....Rockett, keep on doing what you are doing! You're A-OK in my book.

Eddie Wilson - He's a good friend of mine, has done alot for me and vise versa He's "Mr Versatile" he can do mornings, mid-days PM Drive (Ride @5 Music Marathon)... I will tune into Eddie while I am at home, its nice to know that WSUL(596) and WVOS(594) Broadcast on Time Warner Digital Cable So I can listen at home when I'm doing things around my house!

And Trey Stone - He's a good kid, he in my eyes has improved since he has started! he's got a long career ahead of him also, he's got some great WWE Knowledge, almost as good as me, LOL and he's a DIE Hard Yankees fan!

So Steve, If you would like to call anyone out, please call me out, What, Did I suck? Did I make the station sound bad? I think you were just a wanna be radio DJ who really had NO shot and you just wanted to be a main eventer, but never even made it to the dark matches.........

Think about what I said over the weekend, and Id like to hear what you have to say!

Ok, HiC I did make a point to actually LISTEN to BOTH stations today as I was driving though Sullivan Today.

And I will say that I DO Like the station, Both to be exact, the websites to blow, but the mix of music is definitely better then most stations of the format that WSUL is. Hot A/C?? and VOS had a good mix as well.

I also vaguely remember you on SUL for I've only been back in the area since July! Were you on the air in the end of 2005.. But none the less WSUL does Not SUCK and VOS does not suck either. I've actually put them on my presets for my fridays as I am driving through! :)

Man, that whole thread has just become way too wierd...

Hmmm...Steve...this wouldn't be Rockin' Steve, the official punching bag for the Sorry*ss WPDH morning show a few years ago??? If it is, I don't ever remember you having your own real radio gig. If these small sul county stations are willing to give someone a chance to go on to a bigger market, why not?? Not a major market, and these folks work their tails off to produce a quality product with little $$ in the budget. I got my start working overnites and spending hours in the production booth of a station that was willing to let me do that. And consider myself lucky to have been able to do that. Everyone has a bad day once and a while.......

You can't be fired if you've never worked in Sullivan County Or WSUL, has anyone ever been fired from WSUL?
When I worked in Sullivan county there was no such thing as WSUL. There were no such things as websites that sucked or really, much of anything else. Just us over at WVOS where we block-programmed and covered everything from Saturday picnics to somebody's briss. Sy Lubin & Harry Borwick ran the place. Sy stayed in Liberty and Harry stayed over at the old newspaper building over in Monticello because they couldn't get along with each other. We ran the place with 3 full time announcers, 1 engineer and NO...not a single part-timer. We made crap..we were treated VERY well, and we had a hell of a lot of fun.

I worked at WSUL in 1987-88. The owner Bill Reynolds was a great guy to work for. Stuart Johnson was a great guy and a fun PD. We also had Barbara Pinto as well. She sort of went on the bigger and better. I have nothing but fond memories working there. It was great working in the storefront. I loved listeners bringing me pizza from the shop across the street.

I listened closely, learned a lot, took what I learned elsewhere.

I used to love when WVOS would play Booker T. and the MG's (Time is Tight?) to catch the network news at the top of the hour... that probably went on in the late 80's.

Have to say, I caught a little of John Moultrie in the morning a little bit Friday while driving through. The station sounds as good as I think it can. Music selection was decent.

I think his 10-12 hours were voice tracked, they sounded it. But for the most part, it sounded pretty good.

I think John has worked everywhere in the Hudson Valley! As I remember him from the late 80's, early 90's... he is a great guy.

I also worked full time and part time at WSUL from 1984-1992 and I must admit that Stuart Johnson and Bill Reynolds were great guys to work for. I had some good times and bad times, including my first $3.50 an hour overnight gig in 1984 paycheck bouncing. But overall, the station had some very talented people and competed very well in a small market.
