Note: WEEI was only on FM for two days of this three month long ratings period so it is not included. We will start to see it’s effect starting next month.

[EDIT*-The posting of individual numbers for non-6+ and 12+ demos and dayparts are not allowed. Rankers are permitted]

'EEI down 2/1--or worse-- across the board (25-54?). Fall book tells the real story though. Nobody's on vacation, AM no longer a factor.

The reason WEEI still leads in the 6+ is because they have a stranglehold on the 55+ audience. They make up enough cume and TSL (Time Spent Listening) to push WEEI over 98.5 overall, but those aren't the listeners advertisers want. The numbers in the beginning of the thread are the ones the two stations are concerned about, not 6+.

With the new PPM ratings system, there is no three month book. There are thirteen four-week long ratings periods per year, and they just roll over. WEEI flipped to FM the last three days of the posted ratings period. The next one will be the first with WEEI fully on 93.7. However, WEEI will have no Sox during October and the Sports Hub will be running Pats, and the start of the Bruins. The numbers should look very different in the next ratings period. 850's numbers should plummet, and we'll see where 93.7 debuts.

Better screen shot it now!! Kalendar only posts the subscriber only numbers that benefit WBZ-FM (obviously has a dog in the fight) which is a violation of this board's rules, and a HUGE arbitron no-no.

Reely, those are the only ones that matter! A sports station needs men 25-54, 18-49 and to a lesser extent 18-34 to thrive. 98.5 is excelling in all three demo breakouts. What is he leaving out? Women? 55+? Who cares? The Sports Hub is leading in all the important male demos in just about every daypart!

By bigger point was that it's not really cool to be posting those numbers.

However, if you're posting those numbers, why not go all out and post ALL the numbers? Somebody obviously cares, otherwise there wouldn't be any local spots on WEEI.

Note of course on http://www.radio-info.com/markets/boston that the
"WEEI-FM" listed is the Westerly RI station which had those calls before.
WMKK is still listed and they did have those calls for the first week or so
of sports on 93.7...oh, and the format listed for WEEI (AM) is Variety? Variety,
not sports or talk? (A station like WMWM with various shows devoted to
diff. types of music is Variety....)

Yes, Ent. had to finally do the FM move, and they have faced not only the Sox not making the playoffs but what becomes of the Celtics season? Thought I heard last night that not only was pre-season wiped out but they're close to cancelling at least the start of the regular season. Absence of play-by-play--I'm sure there will be occasional C's talk but how can you talk about last night's game when there WAS no game?

>>The numbers should look very different in the next ratings period. 850's numbers should plummet, and we'll see where 93.7 debuts.

As noted, we'll see in the next book what the move to/simulcast on 93.7 does but think about this:

--Does the AM switch to 24/7 ESPN in the next few weeks? So far the only indication they might was
Vahey quoting an ESPN employee and "good friend" that it would happen. OK, so suppose it does.
You would have WEEI's local talk and play by play--the very end of Sox season, C's (???) etc., on the
FM and presumably ESPN and some spillover sports on the AM. Does the 850 get new calls? With PPMs
I would think it accurate would measure whether someone's on the AM or FM as opposed to diaries
where it might be uncertain which "WEEI" is listened to

--Does WEEI keep the same programming on both AM and FM? I wonder how many people are
aware of the FM availability. A wk or so ago I was stuck in traffic on 93 north on a Sunday night
and had the Sox Sun night game on 93.7. The car in the lane on my left also had the game on
but it sounded like they had the AM on because it was not slightly delayed. Then again both signals
came in fine so it may have been his/her choice to have the 850 on, which came in fine

Globe:
>>In the 7 p.m.-midnight window, WEEI (850) was third (7.2), while The Sports Hub was 11th (3.6).

Sox games.

Globe on C's situation:
>>In a news conference last night, he said he will cancel the first two weeks of the regular season if an agreement is not reached by Monday. The Celtics are scheduled to open Nov. 2 at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers .

Oddly enough, this same thought has confounded me as well. How does someone post specific Arbitron ratings and not get a slap on the hand from the mods? Then, I looked closer. Where, in their post, does it mention Arbitron? It doesn't. It just says Summer Ratings. These ratings could be from any source, right? Heck, they could be wrong, but I doubt it...So, no R-I board violation.

Just a hunch ???

Please, PLEASE try not to insult anyone's intelligence. After you do that, tell us what organization does radio ratings in the Boston market aside from Arbitron.

We're waiting.

I've asked Mr./Ms. Kalendar what their relationship to The Sports Hub is and received no answer. Kalendar has a total of four posts and they've all been to report these so-called taboo, proprietary ratings. It should be obvious to anyone that this is someone who works for WBZ-FM and has access to this information. We see the total numbers and WEEI is ahead, but Kalendar's numbers tell a different story, which makes his/her credibility suspect.

Except that the Globe & Herald confirm the rating demo scores as well. They just don't list the numbers.

Not sure how I was insulting anyone's intelligence, just trying offer a possible scenario. Since the ratings still sit on this board, it seems like a plausible explanation. Maybe you have a better idea?

Tom Taylor's daily email even referenced this thread for it's specific rating breakouts. If the Globe & Herald can print that information, why shouldn't it be posted on this board?

The Globe and Herald violate Arbitron's copyrights by reproducing data they have no right to publish, so this board should too?

News flash: Two wrongs don't make a right.

Your honor: Move to strike as unresponsive.

Still waiting for you to tell us what other company does radio ratings in the Boston market.
