To be fair, Lisa's just started, and hasn't had time to affect the ratings. I still don't understand why this station isn't doing better. It sounds better than it ever has. I've seen it cited here on many occasions that it has a crappy signal because it's located to the northwest of Nashville, but truth is I can pick it up in my car radio all over town and every county touching Davidson, and I can pick it up in my downtown office where I can't pick up any AMs and a couple of local FMs. Is the audience they're trying to reach simply listening to their iPod, or is it that they need to take a cue from their sister station's moniker and build some BUZZ about the station?

The wheels at 96.3 really knew what they were doing did'nt they, got the number 2 spot. What's up with the Wolf, KDF and the River? Like John Anderson sang, "i'm going down hill"! Kudos to SIX, all they have is Gerry, but their still Top 5. The Buzz is slowly movin up.
97.1 The Tower, no. 14 Damn
Life goes on!

That's why Bud Walters has a translator on 102.1. The translator for V-102.5 is on Channel 4's tower and was added because 102.5's signal can not penetrate through the buildings downtown. V-102's Transmitter site is actually in Charlotte, TN, in Dickson County. They have a CP for the translator that I saw on the FCC's website. It appeared that they were going up in height of the antenna and lower the power to from 250 watts to 145 watts to protect Ivan Davis's Station, WLCT-FM in Lafayette, TN (Country 102.1). I not sure if it will help or not, we'll see when the commission grants that CP for Bud's translator.
Lisa has not been with Dean but just a few weeks, so the summer book can not be used to judge them as a morning pair.

Seems to me that if V-102.5 wants to cover both Nashville and Clarksville, they should try for a transmitter site somewhere near Pleasant View. I live in Pegram, and they come in great here, but there are other "local" stations that I cannot pick up here.

I like V-102.5's noon 80s "retro-zone," or whatever they call it. They play those extended 80s dance remixes edited together. I haven't heard that on local radio since Star 97 dropped their Saturday evening 80s "supermix" when they went oldies. That was all I have missed from Star 97!

I wish the best for Dean and Lisa. Just hope the signal issues can be addressed so they can compete on an equal basis. My mind is somewhat rusty; why did they not survive WKDF? Did they leave WSIX for WKDF? Does anyone have the back story?

Bud has moved the V-102.5's transmitter site as close as he can get it. I believe there is a co-channel station that stops Bud from moving it any closer to the metro. The city of license was change from Dickson to Pegram, TN, but engineering wise, it doesn't really affect anything. The signal does better in Clarksville than it does in the middle of Nashville. There is no way Bud can move the site to Pleasant View. You better believe if it could be done, Bud would have done it.

If it wasn't for co-channel WKYR-FM in Burkesville, KY, Q-108, WCVQ (licensed to Ft. Campbell) Clarksville, could move closer in to the metro and give V-102.5 a run for thier money.

I guess the Jack bashing is dead and gone. In their two-plus years of format Jack has not been lower than fifth in the ratings. The punching bag title has been passed to The Tower.

My guess is that V-102.5's signal does not come in very well among the buildings in downtown Nashville. But I suppose almost any signal (especially one far enough away) would have trouble being heard among all those buildings. Looks like Bud's only remaining options would be to try for a taller transmitter or a power increase, or both. (I picked them just fine in Brentwood.)

I had 102.1 on my car radio preset until I decided that 102.5 came in better. Of course, I also moved from west Nashville to Pegram. Once I moved out here, I discovered I could receive Q-108's signal once again. First time I had been able to listen to them on a regular basis since I lived in Clarksville in the early '90s.

I had heard that 107.5 had actually paid to move 108's transmitter to Ft. Campbell so that they (107.5) could cover Clarksville.

Forepoint, I worked at 108 when the studios were on State Line Road. Standing at the sound board, you would have one foot in Tennessee and the other foot in Kentucky, literally. The transmitter was maybe 200 yards north from the studios, but totally in Kentucky (Oak Grove).

Dean and Lisa, having worked for both SFX (98 & Y107 respectively) in the mid-90s and Citadel (KDF) in the mid-2000s, have never been paired up on-air as far as I can remember. Dean was paired with Kim Leslie in afternoons on KDF and Lisa was on the morning show with Eddie Foxx. KDF let them go separately...Dean and Kim were canned in the first wave, and Lisa was let go with Eddie & Justin in the second wave. That said, I'm glad these two are paired together on V-102. I wish I could listen, but I live outside the signal range now...

I can safely say I've never worked with two more talented or classier people than Dean Warfield and Lisa Manning. These two work with the utmost professionalism, and are genuinely nice people in a business where egos tend to get the best of us. As an immature kid working for Citadel 4 years ago, Dean and Lisa both treated me with respect as if I'd been in the business for years...respect I probably didn't deserve. They also lent their veteran advice to me and made me better at what I do.

I'm glad they've not only found work, but are together on the air. Best of luck to them, especially overcoming the signal woes and bad reputation that 102.5 signal has.

Dean and Lisa? Dean does that time gig on the time and temp call line right? He really does a god job because without that, hell, I would not be able to reset my ipod time deal ands yes I have heard of watches. I own a SWiss watch, a nice un too. ;)

Not to get of the subject, but have any of you noticed the audio problems that V102.5 has had all week. Lots of dead air in the middle of songs, spots, etc. Wednesday, it sounded like they got thier audio back on from a dial up internet stream from the studio. Must be serious STL problems. I really can't imagine shooting a UHF STL signal from all most Antioch to Charlotte TN, where the transmitter is. They would have to use ISDN or a T-1 for that far of a connection. Where is Dave Wilson, thier chief. Maybe he can answer what the problem is.

UPDATE: I just hung up with Jim Turbo with the WAY-FM group. What has happen, somebody (JERK) took a shot gun and fired away at V-102.5's STL Dish at the transmitter site in Charlotte,TN. They have a tower crew on the scene as I type this. They are replacing the STL receiving dish at the V-102.5 transmitter site, and yes they use a UHF/STL to send the signal from the Murfresboro Rd studio to the transmitter. Jim said Dave Wilson was using a Tieline POTS codec this week to send audio from studio to transmitter to keep the staiton on the air.
GOOD LUCK DAVID AND I HAOP YOU GET IT WORKING THIS WK-END!

Wow for real? Who did that and have the cops got them yet? Disgruntled ex employee or just some drunken redneck with a gun and desire to cause some trouble?
