Wow, what a fall for KUBE.....

A sad day cowboys as I predicted :'( As staff is fired and a PD not replaced as DA WOLF rockets ahead of KMPS in every demo and is second in the market 25-54. A MAJOR Acheivement. MOVIN finally knocks off KUBE and KBKS 25-54 and is second 18-34 just as the creator of the format is let go in Portland :-\ Mammaknewbest after all. :-[ The change has finally arrived but too late to save many of the damn good people that brought these formats to the frickin top. Entercom has the nmber one and two station in the market and three out of the top eight. Bittersweet at best  Tops in women go to KCMS and DA WOLF. Tops in Boys go to KISW and DA WOLF and tops 25-54 KISW and DA WOLF.

Look at KIRO, KOMO and KIRO-FM with terrible numbers and it makes you sad for the cowboys at KBSG :'( All are at the bottom and what happened to KWJZ ???
What will they do with the good people at KISS. No numbers 25-54 and no numbers 18-34. KCMS even beat em in teens :p

A sad day when the most successful station operations lose talented people and stations that remain can't get it done. What has become of our industry ???

Really reinforces your faith in management don't it? I've lived through that sort of thing. It's tough. The big boys with the money get nervous....and radio's so short sighted anyway. They're the business operators, we're the artists. Artists and business people hardly ever see eye-to-eye. Business people see spread sheets, numbers, bottom lines, they don't feel the vibe like creative people do.

You guys know that KUBE doesn't target 25-54, right?

Look at the general 12+ list.....

Not that I personally take any stock in these things, but if people like you do....

It's the summer book, no one cares, not even major agencies. Most throw it out and those that use it do so on a four book average. I assume most people realize that listener habits in the summer are dramatically different. KQMV and KWFF tend to have bumps in the summer. KRWM, KPLZ, KWJZ, KMPS tend to have poor summers. Trust me KRWM will be back on top in Fall once Christmas music kicks in. KMPS will win three out of four books every year. The summer book is interesting, but meaningless. This is the last summer diary book in Seattle. The first PPM is in June, pre-currency in April and May of 2009.

Two things to note: KBKS, with the exception of a solitary good extrap month in Spring, is not performing in its key demos. The station may indeed be in trouble based on its four book average 18-34 compared to KUBE, KISW, KQMV and others. KIRO-FM is not attracting listeners yet and with KJR-AM floundering will KIRO-AM really switch to all-sports? Seems unlikely given the lack of FM numbers and the lack of interest in Seattle sports teams. Would the AM stay news/Talk and the FM flip to AC or another music format? Tough decisions for KIRO and KBKS.

Finally it is sad that staff at Entercom have been let go. With the exception of KNDD, all of the Entercom stations are doing pretty well.

Hey - why dilute a thread by posting something factual? :)

And I got a GOOD laugh when Lisa Adams was credited as the "creator" of "Movin'". Alan Burns might have something to say about that.

As noted - it's the summer book and it along with $3 gets you a latte at your favorite coffee shop.

ya ya ya.

Let the numbers speak for themselves Four book or two book or single book for MOVIN. Monti's numbers have been exploding since March every month exctrap and last month she hit number two 25-54 and tied KUBE 18-34. Almost TRIPLE the numbers of the KISS morning show and t wo full points ahead to T-Man. Mamma bets changes are a comin and mammaknowsbest. As I said before just look at the numbers if you don't have faith in the ya ya sisterhood cause the old shows of Rivers, Ichybod and kentandallen are already faded. Its a new world and the numbers prove it with Monti owning 18-34 and 25-54 sisters. WOLFY with the Country posse and the disturbed BJ owning the dudes. This year is complete valediation for mamma.

Mamma is also sad for those losing jobs in the ya ya economy. For once something we can all agree on cuase competing is fun and winning is rewarding but not if thereward is unemployed.

Yuppers Mammmma is interesting but I disagree with the bit about Bob Rivers having faded, did I ready that right? Rivers & Co. seem pretty hip. The morning show for rock-n-rollers who can actually think.

The morning show for Classic Rockers who can actually can remember to turn on their radios... The Rivers show goes down about as smooth as a Bran Muffin & Herbal Tea... But then again I wouldn't expect anything else from an aging tree hugger....

Bob Rivers....TREE HUGGER?

Bob Rivers is to hugging trees what Ted Nugent is to PETA..

Many shows at CBS are up for contract renewal. It is my view in the days of economic peril for CBS they can afford one or maybe two high tickets shows in Seattle. It should also be noted that Clear Channel has pulled the T-Man program in most of his major syndicated markets and his numbers have shown significant erosion in Seattle. It is my view the Ryan Seacrest show will be clearing in Seattle within weeks. I suspect afternoon drive is the prime position. This means either KUBE, KBKS, Star orMovin will carry the program. KUBE could easily put Mr Powers in mornings and Seacrest in afternoons. This eliminates a morning salary. Same could be done at KBKS though they might be smarter airing Seacrest in mornings. Same parameter applies for Movin, in my humble opinion. Star could easily replace their afternoon program with Mr Seacrest. I have it on good authority one will be airing the show soon and at least two morning shows in town will not be renewed.

So the best way to revive an under performing station is to dump the local talent and run a syndicated show?? That's part of how the radio geniuses out there put the biz in the position that it's in today.

Welcome to 1998...

No offense, but seriously. Clear Channel nationally copyrighted the KISS radio brand in 1999 or 2000, so they have ownership of that "brand" anywhere. Here in Seattle, KBKS 106.1 was using it WELL before the Clear Channel mandate and so KBKS, by "heritage" or "grandfathering" is immune to the Clear Channel copyright.

So here is how it's gonna be with Ryan Seacrest, either KBKS picks them up on their own terms, or KUBE gets him. Even Sandusky appears ready at 92.5. 101.5 is also a possibility.....
