Summer book

KTAR-FM up a half a share, KFYI static. Maybe the Master Programmer knows something.

I'm out of market and can't listen online on a regular basis...Can anyone tell me why KMLE is beating KNIX so badly?

I was so glad ;D to see both kiss and power ahead of jamz. I hope and pray that piece of crap jamz is blown up sooner rather than later!!!

I'm not really a country listener, but I see and hear things so I might be able to give a simple answer.

KNIX has lost a lot of popular, high-profile, Phoenix radio personalities, like Steve Goddard (now at KOOL), and Tim & Willy. Their departures have really affected KNIX negatively.

I think KMLE, under the PD controls of Kris Abrams, recognized KNIX is at such a weak point, and took advantage of the opportunity. They've seemed to work extra-hard in programming, imaging, and promotions in attempt to become the top country station of the market, and I think they've done it. Job well done!

KTAR-FM is #8 in adults, KFYI is 14th?
How did KOOL get the upper hand on KSLX and Peak? How did KOOL bounce back so fast?
Can three Hip Hop stations continue? And only 1/2 an alternative station.
Why don't we have a real AAA? KDKB, hello? Listen to Bonneville's Sound/LA and copy away.
Is Mix viewed as unbeatable? Why has no one tried to go after a station that posts top 5 books?
Does someone steal KEZ's position when they go all Christmas? And could we have three holiday stations?
Is KMLE doing some secret/stealth marketing to take KNIX by 16 positions (if I counted that right).

Yep. The FM advantage is kicking in, as Bonneville expected.

It's well programmed, and has moved to appeal to more under-55 listeners as well.

Formats continue as long as they generate revenue. The market will thin out any excesses or capitalize on any absences.

Why don't we have a real AAA? KDKB, hello? Listen to Bonneville's Sound/LA and copy away.

Oh, I hope not. Sound barely has a 1 share and has not moved at all since its first PPM book.

Like KOOL, it is simply well programmed.

Somebody musta popped at KTAR 25-54. Who was it? Anybody know? And does CC have a failing FM in the market it can flip to talk. Like, today?

Wow, quite a difference for KFYI between 25-54 and 12+. Either a lot of 12-24 listeners, or a lot of 55+ listeners. Guess which?

By the way, I am always amazed that advertisers ignore the 55+ market. We probably have more disposable income than most 25-54's, and buy new cars, eat out, buy electronics, etc. Sure, we probably go to fewer movies, and don't buy kids stuff, but we still spend money. Maybe they think we can't be easily influenced, or can't be duped into buying something we don't need or isn't worth it.

Mix 96.9 was set to be #1 A25-54 through the first two months. They must have had a horrible 3rd trend.

KFYI's audience is becoming so old it's almost un-saleable. You can't make money on a 64+ demo.

It's unbelievable how CC has trashed KNIX. What was a legendary station is now nothing. When CC bought the station I heard that they paid more than $80million for it. What do you think the station is worth now????

John Holmberg on KUPD is the biggest personality in the market by far. He's becoming so dominant in Phoenix.....how long before LA or NY is calling???

Think it's 55 to death. Things we may be hearing soon on KFYI. " KFYI. #1 With People Who Leave Their Turn Signals On!" "From the Depends KFYI traffic center..." "I'm Prostate Pete with the news..."

David is right. All you are going to get is a copy of KSLX. Yeah. The Sound is mostly classic rock.

KFYI dominates in men, that's why the difference between 12+ and 25-54

Seriously guys, KRUX is a much better station than KRIZ.

KRIZ is for teenyboppers, KRUX plays cool stuff.

If I have read the number correctly this book....there was only on .6 difference in the 25-54's...between KTAR FM and KFYI. Not exacly a beat down.

He's thrown so much at the wall to see what might stick, he SHOULD know something by now!

Wow. SERIOUS sour grapes, there.

Not really, I mean, the difference in numbers doesn't warrant a response as dramatic as sour grapes. All I meant was, he has had so much time, so much money, so much publicity and talent, so many tries, he really SHOULD be on to something by now. And KFYI had no money , no support, no PD, etc., and they were holding their own against a station with a guy at the helm who had so much at his disposal.
