On early review, the biggest story to me is Citadel. It is almost ironic that 94.7 comes in with a slightly bigger overall audience than WLS. Given that WLS has held to the same format for nearly 20 years while 94.7 has been through tons of changes.
Adding to this is how, on the heels of this book, management tinkers with 94.7, taking the risk of letting go of John Landecker in return for Greg Brown, while nothing major changes (as of yet!) for WLS.
While on the subject, let me be the first to bring up how 94.7 passes WLS in the first book after WLS spends two of the major holiday days with retro programming which targets the FM side.
The next biggest story is what will likely come soon, as I'm sure there will be those wondering about the Spanish station surges in large markets. In addition to the strong showing of WOJO and others in Chicago, a Spanish station has topped the overall ratings in Los Angeles. There will be those who will claim this was an instance of diaries coming from the Latin areas and that it might not stick as strong in upcoming ratings books. Time will tell on that one.
