next month the summer of love will be 40 years old, will ogl play music from that moment in time such as the parade, bobbie gentry, nancy and frank, mamas and papas and other non soul acts to mark this anniversary. Or will we continue to hear the tops, temps, smokey, stevie, marvin, diana, martha and a host of other burnt, worn out, urban oldies.

Woggle doesn't do anything interesting anymore. The reason is because so many years have passed that they think they would be alienating most of their current audience by featuring specialty types of programming.

Remember when they had specialty weekends? I remember one week when the DJ's were allowed to bring in their own records, and they even had a Doo Wop weekend once, a long time ago.

I totally agree with your thoughts, I will pass this on to the head end for observation and a possible go.

Here's an idea: In honor of the anniversary of the Summer of Love, they could play the music and artists that defined the Summer of Love like Jefferson Airplane, the Doors, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Jimi Hendrix, Beatles (Sgt. Peppers), the Who, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Procol Harum, Association, Young Rascals -- but I won't hold my breath. It's hard to believe, but the folks who were in high school then have already crossed the threshhold beyond the money demo.

That's why I'm doing a tribute to the "Summer of Love" all season long on my Internet show, "Juke Box Gold" beginning June 2nd. No money, just a love for the music and memories. Juke Box gold, Saturday noon to 6pm (Eastern) on www.retrohits.ca! On June 16th we'll be revisting the Monterey International Pop Music Festival.
