Summertime Sadness and more dance

Top 40 and rhythmics are playing it now, but how well will this song do? And will any success it has be limited by the fact that this season is already halfway over? Can this song continue to chart in September and October? I'm not sure when they originally planned on releasing it, but it seems like it hit a little too late. It will have to do exceptionally well all throughout August because I don't see it being a fall or winter song.

By the way, it seems like there is more actual dance on the radio from more established dance artists and producers NOW. Before it seemed to be all (or mostly) pop influenced dance (or dance influenced pop). Now it seems as if there is more pureness crossing over to mainstream. Summertime Sadness and Reload are two examples of what I'm hearing nowadays. But after the big success of Calvin's "feels so close," nothing surprises me too much anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if it blows up like Goyte did. Billboard has already removed "Summertime Sadness" from the Rock chart because its now charting as a Dance single with Cedric Gervais now getting credit thanks to his remix on the single. So it looks like this one will have legs.

CHR'S station have been promoting the song on their FB pages the last few weeks. It's one of those songs that when I heard thought ii was quirky enough to be a success. I put the song on a mix I did back in May for New Music Spotlight w/Tony Santiago but I used the Adam Freeland remix which is more of a dub mix.

And I've played the Cedric Gervais version (the one you're hearing on the radio now) on my show.....JANUARY 27th!!! :)

The song came out in the winter. It's hard to predict which dance hits will become CHR hits. For example, September - Cry For You took over a year to make it to CHR. Stereo Love was a dance hit in early 2010, and made it to CHR in just 2 months, and stayed as a CHR hit till nearly the end of the year. As a result, it was at the top of the dance charts for most of the year.

I like Lana Del Rey's next dance hit, Young and Beautiful. I hope to hear it a lot on Party 105 as I go across Long Island tomorrow, since I know they're playing it often.

Yeah, song was out for a while. I prefer the dub version for club play (not radio). I did hear Molly on your show first so you have always played his music.
