Mamma needs to say nothing cept look at the first trend of summer (can you say YA YA) or the last couple of trends or the rolling average of the trends as MOVIN moves well ahead of KISS and now KUBE inthe last few months. Monti beats Jacke an Bender again and now is ahead of T-Man. Nice trend for the WOLF now beating KMPS for a change this summer. No more boasting posts needed just read the numbers for yourself and know that mamma does know best. Monti, you go girl! Ignore the comments and just keep showin the boys up where it counts: IN THE RATINGS.

Mama,

I am no ratings expert, but I don't think the summer trends mean all that much. Most of the jocks use that time for vacations so they can get back refreshed and ready for the fall book.

Movin and Kiss are within what I call the margin of error.....point 3 tenths of a share...very close. KUBE still whoops 12+ quite clearly and that is all that matters...the final score. Yeah...like whatever...WOLF is no where close to KMPS 12+...it's not even close.

Mama, you need to sneak into the PD's office after your board -- or janitorial -- shift and look at those numbers. KMPS is #1 in every daypart, KISW is still strong, KUBE is beating your Movin in the key demos too. On the AM side, KOMO holds its own despite a poor Mariners season, and KIRO did even worse in this trend than its pitiful Spring book. Don't think FM will save them, but sports on the AM might.

This board is always good for a smile when trends come out. I think we are talking the July extrap versus the July trend which is a three month rolling average. Let's talk July Extrap so we can see what happened for the month.
Big winners 25-54 were KCMS, KKWF, KISW, KQMV and KZOK. The last two extraps do actually show KQMV well ahead of KBKS and KUBE in 25-54 and ahead of KBKS 18-34. KBKS appears to have gotten one big month in May which falls out next time. KKWF got a huge July well ahead of KMPS for the single month, my bet is that is a blip, kind of like KBKS in May. Nonetheless it will give KKWF a nice Summer book. KCMS got a similar bump for the month. To be fair, KQMV has had a couple of very strong months and has been doing better than KBKS, but is no where close to KUBE.

On the AM dial all stations had troubles. Mariners baseball gave KOMO a big night number, but that is all. KIRO was very weak. KJR-AM was the strongest station and the morning show was top three in prime demo's for the month. Could mean a good battle for sports if KIRO-Am flips.

Extraps jump up and down and mean little. It will be insightful to look at the August extrap for 97.3 versus the rolling average to see how the station does as a news simulcast. KBSG actually had been growing and soundly beat KJR-FM in the July extrap and the rolling trend. KBSG also has the highest rating in the Bonneville cluster 25-54 over the last four months. July was a very strong month for KBSG. I wonder if it will be as strong as a News and Talk station? Time will tell.

Couple things:

1. No one has mentioned that KNDD has put together four solid, solid months in a row P18-34. Everyone always trashes all the changes that have gone down, but I have to give them kudos.

2. KQMV had a decent month last month and a great month this month. Thats why mamma is back on the board. We didn't hear from her for three months before then when they were mediocre. Show me consistency. They always have a good first trend. It will be back to the inconsistent norm. Good news is, we won't hear from Mamma for a couple more months til she gets another ridiculous spike.

3. KBKS lost their big month this month and replaced it with a bad July. The next two months are not great, but solid. No one noticed they had four solid months in a row leading up to July with no PD. Well, solid for them. They are still in the mid 3's 12+, which compared to a year ago is a feat.

4. KUBE continues to do what KUBE does. Steady. They are one of the stations that can't be looking forward to PPM. KBKS and KQMV will benefit tremendously from PPM, KUBE will get kicked in the shorts.

I can beleive Jackie and Bender... But does the fact that T-man went on vacation for two weeks, got sick, and has
been off the air for a total of four weeks have anything to do with him being beat?

hmm, mamma... might wanna stay current with the market and take into account as to why this lame excuse of a morning
show is beating people.

hooooowwwwwwlllllll. The WOLF explodes just when everyone thinks it is over and starts off some way ahead of Compasss ;D Yeah this cowboy knows it is just the first extrapo trendo of summer but it was damn sweet. Tony, Fitz and company must be partied out tonight :p Nice couple of fat trends for the gals at MOVIN so comeon dudes give em their due 8) Got to wonder whats goin on at KISS, pretty slim couple of trends and Bonneville has got be scratchin their butts wondering why they executed their top rated station

yeah yeah its just a trend but it is a pretty smilin day for KCMS, THE WOLF, KISW and MOVIN ;D

On a four book from a major ad agency perspective:

25-54: KZOK, KMPS, KISW are solid on top. KRWM, KCMS and KMTT come in and out of the top three (buys tend to be 3-5 deep)

25-54 women: KRWM, KMPS, KPLZ are solid on top. KCMS and KMTT come in and out of the top three (buys tend to be 3-5 deep)

25-54: men: KZOK, KISW and KMPS are solid on top. (buys tend to be 3-5 deep)

18-34: KUBE and KISW own it. KQMV, KBKS, KKWF, KMPS and KNDD all battle for distant third. (Buys are rarely more than one or two deep in the demo anyway)

AM stations have very poor 25-54 numbers and a majority of their buys are direct business. A couple can make a good living with weekend paid show programming, sports and direct buyers aimed at older demographics. Those dollars are diminishing in a down market.

Single month extraps are fun to watch, the above 4 book numbers above explain why the top billing stations (in no particular order) are KMPS, KZOK, KRWM, KUBE, KPLZ, KISW, KMTT, KCMS, KIRO and KOMO.
