Sunday morning change at WODS

Rather than continuing the "Tom Kent" post which is getting kinda inflammatory, here's a new post regarding Sunday morning change:

I just tuned in (meaning, I just got up ;D ) at 1015ish am and heard Casey Kasem with AT40/70s which was odd. Checked the Features pages on WODS's website and, while it still says that AT 40 airs 11pm-2am, the ON-AIR box says AT 40 is running 10am-noon on Sundays now.

That obviously cuts down on the amount of time we can hear a live jock which is too bad. That leaves 6 hours before leading into Lost 45's. Two jocks at 3 hours each?

The jock page on their site looks like it's being torn down. Perhaps Santa is getting ready to make an early entry.

If you mean that when you click on the jock page and all the jocks/bios are wayyyyyy over on the right with nothing but whitespace right in the center and you have to scroll over to see the jocks, I thought I was the only one having that problem. ??? :D

Aside from Santa making his eventual entrance, it would make sense that more jock changes could happen soon. I'm pretty sure Bob Lobel was only going to be guest-hosting the morning show for 4 weeks or so and we are about to hit the 4th week this week.

And following Casey, it was Mike O'Reilly from noon to 3 and Patrick Callahan now from 3 to 7. It was Mike and Patrick last Sunday as well.

I don't know if AT 40 aired last night as usual from 11pm to 2am...anyone else listening last night?? I also don't know who was on from noon to 7 yesterday.

Better get out the fire extinguisher then.

WODS should start a new Sunday morning Casey-like show.
It would be terrific--"Tom Kent's Top 40 Countdown." ;D

I know, don't give them any ideas. ::)

Now you just cut that out! :p :D

Wolfman was on last night from 11pm to 4 am. So it'll be interesting to see what's on tonight after Lost 45's.

No other way to be more costeffective than by putting a dead guy on the schedule.

Re: Sunday night change at WODS as well

And now, Sunday night at 11, AT 40 is back on again and it's starting at #40 which SHOULD mean the entire 3 hour show running until 2am. However, the ON-AIR box on the front page says 11pm-1am which isn't enough time to fit in 40 songs.

Either way, AT 40 is now running Sunday mornings from 10-noon (I tuned in at 1030 this morning so I don't know at what number they started but they did play down to #1) and now 11pm to either 1am or 2am.

On Saturday the lineup was:

Dale . . . Neil White . . . Mauzy Stafford - (Welcome back from wherever you're been!) . . .Mighty Mike

Mauzy was on and I missed her??????? Aww man, I hadda work. :'( Did she say anything whatsoever about when she might be back on?

I'd rather hear her or anyone from oldies 103 than an extra edition of the same American top 40 show. Makes no sense at all to take off two hours of regular music for two thirds of a nearly 40 year old show that's going to be run in it's entirety 13 hours later, another bad move by Oldies.

I wish that they weren't running it on Sunday nights, afterall, I have to get up for work on Monday Mornings usually!

Now why do you think that they flipped AT40 and Wolfman Jack? Could it be that Casey Kasem wasn't getting the ratings that they had hoped and that Wolfman Jack would fair better instead? Could it be that they are also still under contract with AT40 and decided to bury it on Sunday Nights instead? Maybe it runs better with the Lost 45's?

It's official. On WODS's website under the On-Air Features link, Wolfman Jack is now running Sat nights (following Mighty Mike) from 11pm to 4am.

And Casey Kasem and AT40/70's is running Sunday nights (following Lost 45's) from 11pm-2am. It doesn't say whether it will also be running regularly Sunday mornings as well from 10 to noon as it did yesterday.

You'd think the AT40/70s would be a better fit with Mighty Mike's 70s show. MAYBE they are getting ready to drop AT40/70s and replace it with AT40/80s. Hmmmmmmmmm.

It makes sense to me. I think Wolfman probably fits better Saturday nights as a late-night weekend party show. People out driving on late Saturday nights can pretend they're back in "American Graffiti", and they're "Cruisin' with the Wolfman". Plus, they play the Wolfman shows that have '70s music.

People don't party or go out as as much on Sunday nights, and AT40 fits well after all the music, artist and chart position trivia on Lost 45's.

No, she didn't but she sounded so good - as always!

Wolfman only costs them five bills a week to run and they get ten minutes of inventory an hour in return. Looks like the dead guy makes easy money for them. Not a bad trade-off.

HOw old are most of those Wolfman Jack shows? I know he passed away in 1995(seems hard to believe, really) and I know he sounded pretty much the same when he was on WNBC back in the 70's.
I can remember driving late on 95 in 197? with my Dad, and we had 66 WNBC AM on and, on a good night you could hear it right up the New England coast and, I remember Wolfman Jack and thought, hearing these re-broadcasts, "yep that's him-again!"

As to Kasem, Sunday mornings were his slot, usually, back in the heyday of AT40 when we all waited with baited breath for that #1 to be revealed.

Wolfman Jack shows playing '50s/early '60s oldies were aired on the original WROR 98.5 around 1973-1974, coming off of the popularity of the movie "American Graffiti" which he appeared in. If I remember correctly, they were aired Saturday nights.

Wolfman Jack shows with '50s through early '70s oldies were aired in 1985-1986 as low-cost overnight programming on Boston's second WMEX, which was Greater Media's oldies station at 1150 AM at the time.
