Sunday Morning Public Affairs Shows

I was listening to KKLZ (?) one Sunday morning and I heard "Conversations with Camilla," if I remember right. So what's the best Sunday public affairs show in the LV market? KXTE's "Mahoney" does one as well.

I'm never awake to hear them. Most of them are Sunday morning at 6am, although some stations air it Sunday night at 11pm. Obviously, the show is nessasary in order for a station to maintain their license with the FCC. But no matter how good the show is, they will always be a tune out on a music station. What is the best time to air the show on a music station? Where would you take the least amout of hit? Sunday am or pm? Or some other time? I believe stations are required to run it sometime between 6am and 12mid, which of course are all rated hours.

Anytime is ok. At KDES-FM and KPSI-FM we run ours at 5:30am Sunday. What is required is that you put in your public file 5-10 issues in your city of license quarterly, you can determine what the issues are by any means you want, then address them in some manner. Normally a half hour public affairs show can easily accomplish this. Of course the issues can also be covered in PSA's or interviews on a morning as well. At the end of the quarter you list the "programs" time, date and length prior to the 10th of the next month and file it.

Hey Jon, Are you sure about running anytime? I was trying to find a ruling on the FCC site to no avail. It would appear from your resume, that you know what you are talking about. I plan to run an hour of Public Affairs from 5am to 6am on BOTH Saturday and Sunday on one station and 30 minutes at 6am on three other stations.
