SUNNY 101.5 South Bend Audio/Mic Processing

Ok, maybe it's just me, but has anyone else noticed since Sunny 101.5 has moved to it's new studios in Mishawaka that their microphones on-air sound like sh*t!? Also, their audio processing is flat and they are barely modulating 90% on the audio monitors. Sounds to me like they have very, very conservative (or just really dense) engineers.

I'm glad you brought this up...and while I'm not here to critique their audio (it's a very subjective topic--they may want it that way), I do care for a couple of stations that monitor them for EAS & when 101.5 moved, I had to compensate for their new lower levels at my EAS units - I was actually missing EAS tests due to this change. There's little doubt in my mind that the stated assessment of their audio levels being low (I believe the word "shallow" is how I'd describe it) is correct.

I knew I wasn't going crazy. When you punch into them from adjacent channels they just don't seem to pop out on the dial. It's even worse when the DJ's are talking on the microphone. It sounds like there are 10 sheets of Saran Wrap on the mic and then a wind screen. No high end, very flat and doesn't stand out at all. I doubt they are using any mic processing whatsoever. I was anticipating when they moved into their new studios that we would be hearing state-of-the-art digital quality but now it just sounds like a cheap, college FM station. What a waste of a flame-throwing transmitter! The Stream (102.3) sounds soooo much better than Sunny, nice highs, deep lows--very good quality to my ears.
