Anyone know if JT is broadcasting live, in-studio, at SUNNY? Or is he VT or piped in from a remote location?

I could be wrong, but to my knowledge, all of Sunny's jocks are voice tracked. And, frankly, I think they should just stop bothering. Like Ben, they're better off just playing the music with the pre-recorded liners than they are trying to fake a "live and local" presence. When a voice-tracked jock is heard on Sunny, it's just annoying.

"JT" is Jeff Tyson, voicetracked out of CC Atlanta.

Jennifer Ryan in the morning is live, but she also VTs news reports for Q102. I've heard her on both stations simultaneously. Donna Rowland is probably VTed.

I'll assume the other poster is correct about JT, but when Tom Cook was in that slot, I'm almost certain he was live. Cook probably VTs his evening shift.

How can you tell when a jock is voicetracked?
______________

This is just Clear channel trying to rip-off the listeners again with VT.
How cheap and cheesy can CC be?

Well, when I hear a jock talking about absolutely nothing specific over a long period of time, when I hear no timely references to anything over that same period of time and when I hear that jock speak with an uncertain tone on the rare occasion he or she tries to mention certain locations in eastern Pennsylvania... you can be pretty sure it's a voictracked jock in another part of the country. I have, on occasion, heard pretty good examples of voicetracking. Jackson Armstrong on WWKB/1520 in Buffalo is a good example. But, on Sunny, they're not fooling anyone and it just doesn't sound good. It's also insulting to me as a listener. Do the news, weather and traffic in drivetimes. Otherwise, if they're not going to be a high-quality live and local station, they should just shut up and play the music.

Why Does Clear Channel Have to Be So Cheap?

They have the money to pay for live local jocks. Live and local is much better than the vt crap. How dumb do they think we are?
______________

They don't program to the people on message boards. They program to people that don't know the difference (and probably wouldn't care all that much even if they did know), because it's just not a priority to them. Just like I wouldn't konw the difference in certain types of stitches, a passionate knitter could talk about the merits and drawbacks of each one.

Re: Why Does Clear Channel Have to Be So Cheap?

Well, they invented being cheap and then everyone else in the radio industry followed suit. It would be unethical (ha ha) of them to backtrack now.

And as for that last part: They think we're pretty dumb. And for the most part, they're absolutely right. Most people have absolutely no clue that those jocks aren't live.

Yeah. I keep forgetting I am not a normal listener. I follow more closely.
______________
