Sunny 104.5 more upbeat ?

Do you think that Sunny 104.5 has become more upbeat since they went back to "regular" programming on Dec 27th? Brian Check, the PD of Sunny, said that they were going to have a more upbeat presentation after Christmas. The 3 main things that were changing were less 60s & more 80s, less rotation on the sappier tunes, and a younger-sounding voice guy. Anyhow, after a few weeks of listening to Sunny, I have to agree that they do seem more upbeat. If you compare them now to what they were 3 years ago, they sound much more upbeat. However, it seems that Sunny needs to go deeper into the upbeat music library than they are now. It just seems that they have put a higher rotation on the upbeat songs that they have always been playing, but they haven't added in many new songs. I have noticed more Madonna songs, such as "Lucky Star" and "Into the Groove." However, would it be too much of a stretch for Sunny to play more upbeat songs from the 80s? How about :

Janet Jackson ("Escapade," "Love Will Never Do Without You", "When I Think of You")
Michael Jackson ("Beat It", "Billie Jean")
Expose ("Let Me Be The One", "Point of No Return")
Nu Snooz ("I Can't Wait")
Shannon ("Let The Music Play")
Rick James ("Give It to Me Baby", "Superfreak")
Yaz ("Situation")
Kylie Minogue ("The Loco-motion")
Mariah Carey ("Vision of Love")
Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam ("Lost In Emotion", "Head to Toe")

Sunny already plays a lot of Madonna, "Electric Slide" Marcia Griffiths, "Conga" Gloria Estephan and Miami Sound Machine, "Love Shack" - B52's, & "Tainted Love" Soft Cell. I don't think these songs I've listed would be out of line. I do like Sunny, but they should still continue to broaden their music library.

Wait a minute, Wasn't that the offical station song of Star 104.5? Let the "Is Star 104.5 coming back" talk begin.

Nah, i'm just fishing.

Seriously. I too have noticed atleast more 80's music then before. Granted I havn't listened much, but sounds like the PD wasn't just BSing when he said they would go that direction.

In my opinion, Sunny does sound much more upbeat. I really like their presentation. Brian Check did listen to your suggestion and changes were probably in store anyway after Christmas.

IMHO, it may take years but the station will include these songs eventually (if management doesn't decide to blow 'er up at some point between now and then). It's going to be upbeat and there will be more of that--ahem--rhythmic stuff in there. A lot of people on here will hate it but...well, people on here don't much matter, do they? LOL.
