Sunny 104.5

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sure glad Sunny is back to normal. Its great to hear their regular format again. Even though they've changed over the past year or so, they still sound a little different than from other stations. They do play some songs you don't hear often on other stations.

I know, I know, I'll probably get ripped apart for liking this station, but who cares.

I'm sure, actaully, many people are happy that Sunny is simply done playing Christmas music!
______________

NOT I

I never listened to Sunny, this was my first year, due to the hype about their Christmas music format starting so early. I soon found out they were unique and refreshing, with their selection of Holiday music. I tried them after they switched back to their original format, because YSP is unlistenable before 7pm. I have to say, its the same repititious, safe, contemporary, pop, oldies, that you can hear anywhere on the planet. I am disappointed in them.

You can count me in on that too! I'm glad that Sunny is back to regular programming. I think the station is unique and refreshing.

Yo Magnum, I listened to Sunny today and in regards to your earlier post and emailing the Program Director your suggestions--I didn't notice any difference today, did you? I still heard several slow songs--contrary to your suggestion and the PD's agreeing...

The PD did write me back. He said that the changes made were a younger sounding voice-guy, more 80s music added, and less rotation on the sappier tunes. I do agree with you though. I didn't notice any difference, but of course, I haven't listened to Sunny all that much today.

Maybe we should give it some time. It is after all Sunny's first day back to regular programming.

I've been listening to Sunny on the computer throughout the day. I just heard Bruce Springsteen's "Glory Days". Is that something they normally play? Thats a pretty upbeat song.

Here is some information from www.yes.com :

8:27pm: George Benson "On Broadway"
8:22pm: Bruce Springsteen "Glory Days"
8:18pm: Carol King "Jazzman"
8:16pm: The Archies "Sugar, Sugar"
8:09pm: The Five Stairsteps "O-o-h Child"
8:05pm: Rod Stewart "Rhythm of My Heart"
8:03pm: Arthur Conley "Sweet Soul Music"

At 7:44pm, Sunny played The Romantics and "What I Like About You". Thats a pretty upbeat song. At 5:40pm, they played Sly and the Family Stone "Dance to the Music". At 5:26pm, Kool and the Gang's "Celebration" was played.

More songs:

4:29pm: Sister Sledge "We Are Family"
4:26pm: Kenny Loggins "Footloose"
2:35pm: KC and the Sunshine Band "Get Down Tonight"
2:09pm: Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band "Old Time Rock & Roll"
2:04pm: Madonna "Holiday"
1:57pm: Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive"

I don't listen to Sunny all the time, but today I would say they have played some pretty upbeat songs throughout the day. They sound great and I do notice the younger voice guy.
______________

The voice-guy for the holiday music has always been the same. I wonder if the "younger-sounding guy" had to do a whole holiday package for them too? Call me a traditionalist or whatever...but I actually don't want a new package for the holiday stuff. When it comes back, I want it to be just like it was (but with less "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"/Barenaked Ladies and more "Winter Wonderland"/Aretha Franklin & "Jingle Bells"/Barbra Streisand).

Heck, Brian gets an A+ just for answering your email let alone writing you back a second time! Most PD's don't even bother answering the FIRST time so that's impressive. I guess we'll just have to listen.
