Sunny 105 signal reach

Probably next year I'll be traveling in the Poconos but I am curious that how far does Sunny 105 reach in parts of the Pocono/Lake Region area? I know that their transmitter is located near Hawley and serves the Wayne/Pike County areas. If I am on I-380 southound going towards the Monroe County line near Mount Pocono, would I still be able to hear Sunny 105?

The possible loss of Oldies 92/100 may have prompted the folks at Bold Gold to turn on its translator in Scranton so that they can have their FM oldies in the metro area, but Sunny 105 doesn't cover much of Lackawanna County including the Scranton area. I think pretty soon Bold Gold could opt for the W-B translator to transmit WYCY to make up the loss of 92/100.

Also, in the southern Wayne County community of Hamlin, their elevation is higher so it can be possible to hear Sunny's signal without any reception problems. I'll probably be going to Claws and Paws Animal Park next summer so I wanted to see how is their reception over there.

Pocono when the tests for Sunny 105 began. Both WYCY and WDAS from Phily are on 105.3, and in Mt. Pocono, the signals collide, with the ride toward NJ, WDAS favors the frequency.......All the Wayne County Stations have problems with signal into Lackawanna County, due to the Mountain Range that blocks the signals in the Mt. Cobb area, however, if you want to visit Claws and Paws, that zoo is in our backyard and all the Wayne County stations are strong there......even 1590. (curiously, I lived near Claws and Paws when I worked at DNH, and the 1590 signal was iffy there, but I have tapes that signify that the signal was strong enough to tape.Carl<P ID="signature">______________

ANSWER=IT DOESNT COVER LACKAWANNA COUNTY WITH ENOUGH SIGNAL WORTH MENTION. SINCE WHEN DID THEY PUT A TRANSLATOR IN SCRANTON? WHAT FREQUENCY IS IT? I'M IN SCRANTON ALMOST DAILY AND I CAN'T FIND IT. CLOSEST I CAN FIND IS 101.7 IN WHITES CROSSING. CERTAINLY DOES NOTHING FOR SCRANTON. THEIR BEST COURSE OF ACTION WOULD BE TO FLUSH THE RIVER AND PUT WICK ON BOTH 104.9 AND 105.3.
WICK-105!

ANSWER=I GUESS IT IS OK BUT SO ARE MOST OF THE STATIONS FROM SCRANTON AS WELL AS MANY FROM NY AND NJ, ALL OF WHICH ARE MUCH BETTER THAN 105.3. SO WHAT!

Two weeks ago when Sunny added a translator for the Scranton area. It is on 101.7. I can still get 101.7 in the Wilkes-Barre area with a on-and-off signal, but I can easily pick it up at the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Supercenter by the Wachovia Arena. However, at home I couldn't pick it up at all because of strong interference by nearby Froggy 101.

If you're talking about Whites Crossings, then this might be the 101.7 you are mentioning about. I never heard of the town but I believe it is a Lackawanna County community.

You can probably get some NJ stations and some of Catskills, but I don't know if any NYC stations can come in. One person posted on this message board a year ago said that he can pick up Z-100, WQCD, and some others in the southern Wayne County areas.

According to the FCC website, Whites Crossings is near Waymart. The height above average terrain is 0 and it's only putting out 2 watts. Picking it up at the Walmart center in the W-B is a pure lucky fluke.

I happen to like 105 .. I listen to it while at claws and paws.
I know of many who like the station. Which oldies station is better now in
the market?? wick and wyck are owned by the same people...oh well food for thought back to work in the field....

a 50's & 60's format would. Why would you use 2 FM signals for a format that caters to a demo over 50.NAK has numbers but how about the revenue it could generate?.Also why do you shout?, are you frustrated? How old are you?BROTHER!

I live up in Hamlin. I can pick up all the NYC stations. I get all of the Hudson Valley stations also. I get all of the Scranton station and I get Sunny 105.3 and DNH 95.3

How well can you pick up all of NYC stations? For example, it seems like
98.7 can hardly be heard at all because of interference with nearby 98.5 KRZ.
It could become worse if the Entercom people decide to put IBOC on KRZ, thus
becoming the first station in NEPA to have HD radio.

Also, do you pick them up in the car radio, as well as the two Honesdale stations. Wayne County is the only place to hear Honesdale statons well, while Scranton doesn't.
