sunny 106.3 now spanish?

Many Indiana counties now have a population that is 10 percent Mexican. So, this is a way to have 10
percent listening to your station. Loyal customers and listeners. Can't beat that.

This radio station is in the process of being sold by Artistic Media Partners, Inc. to Oasis Radio corporation.

Russ Oasis has plenty of experience with Spanish broadcasting. I suspect this is part of the station sale
agreement.

Interesting format choice for the station. Doesn't Fort Wayne already have a Spanish-language station on the air at 102.3?

So, does this mean that Russ is LMAing the station (and WBTU) now?

I noticed on their website that streaming was suspended for about a month due to an ownership change.

The trick, however, is to convince them to fill out the books. I agree with you about the Latino population explosion here in Indiana, though. Lafayette's is booming, and some thought should be put into placing a Spanish-language format on one of the stations there. Indy's WEDJ usually pulls up to a 1 share 12+ in Lafayette. Not bad for a signal that is incredibly weak throughout the city.

Maybe someone should do it in Lafayette. Anyone want a 10, plus loyal listeners and customers?
Not a bad idea!!!!!

From what I heard, AMP was considering flipping the Wolf AM to Spanish, but I am not sure if that is still in the works. It would be a goldmine, I think it could sell in Lafayette.

doesn't the am generate most of amp lafayette's revenue from airing purdue sports

Not unless Purdue is paying them to run their Olympic sports broadcasts. Besides that remote possibility.....the station makes nothing and has no listeners.

Regional Mexican makes sense on 1410 at this point. They have already alienated the nursing home, talk radio and fire and brimestone crowd over the years. A Spanish format is their best bet.

realize that sunny did not change moniker as el sol is the sun in spanish. clever stuff.

Well put. I often wondered why they never chose to put sports on that frequency. I remember reading an article about 1410 in the Journal & Courier several years back which quoted Art Angotti saying they didn't want to put ESPN Radio on the station because it was too expensive to carry. ???

All sports radio would have been perfect for them considering the Purdue contract. If I recall, they even tried for a little while having other sports on the station such as the Pacers and Hoosier basketball and football, which under the Wolf simulcast, were just straight feeds of the games with no local commercials, identifiers, or fills during the "dead breaks."

That LMA took effect March 6 at 12:01AM, Oasis flipped the format on WSHY to Regional Mexican. 106.3fm retains its call letters and is jockless.
