Sunny 106.5

Let me first say they don't sound like they used to. First off I don't know if they got a new transmiter or something because they don't come in that clear as they used to. Still can hear the music and the music is also in stereo. Just what I notice is that the volume gets louder then softer also fades out sometimes.

Onto my second comment:
The songs they play seem to be played more offen instead of other songs. I doubt they play all those 500 songs as it says at www.sunny1065.net. I even had on wcbs-fm.com and songs CBS-FM was playing I never hear on Sunny. Sunny 106.5 seems to mostly play 70s instead of more 60s which they should play more of.

I agree. I heard Sunny on my annual vacation down towards Sunset Beach. Their new slogan "Super Hits of the '60's and '70's" sums it up. Sunny is no longer a unique oldies station. It seems to be evolving just like the rest of them. It seemed, when I was there, the 70's were getting more airplay, but the '60's still dominated. Has that changed? Has Sunny updated their jingles? I know that they had gotten a new voiceover talent, but I'm curious if anything else happened since mid-July. It sounds like they definitely changed some more things around.

As far as Sunny1065.net, that playlist, I think, is not valid anymore. There were a few songs that I heard in regular rotation, and I checked the website. Those songs were not listed on the playlist.

Many of the oldies stations around the country use the super hits slogan. As for the voiceover on Sunny it seems the about the same as did last year with the same guy, but now as I am going to be down here for sometime I will know. Right now they say Sunny 106.5 then right after they say it again for some reason before they go into a song which I don't get.

I just returned from our annual fall trip to Myrtle and this time we had Sunny on coming into town last Saturday(9/10), and yes it's not the same Sunny . Heck when Kemosabie Joe left a number of years ago the station hasn't sounded the same.It sounds like your basic cookie cutter oldies station! (IMOP) We spent most of our time listening to WEZV ( Easy 1059 & or 94.5)I could not believe some of the stuff I heard on EASY! Every evening when my wife and I were out on the Grand Strand Easy was on the car radio. I especially enjoy the instramental music they kick into high gear after 6pm!

EASY is using Jones Radio's 'Easy Mix' format. It is amazing how this station can be playing Nat King Cole or Sinatra at 7:00, for instance...then at 7:12, they are playing 'I Love You' by The Climax Blues Band or some other soft AC hit from the 80's to almost current...and through in a few smooth jazz tunes or EZ instrumental covers and it sounds great! Their imaging is perfect for what they are doing..."Relaxation on your vacation...that's what we're all about". Their ratings, pretty well, tell their story!

Agreed on Sunny. I used to find it fun to listen to. Now, they are more or less a 70's station. I did also enjoy Cool 104.9 and 100.7. It's 'Hot AC'...80's, 90's and Today. But, they still play lots of 'lost 80's' tunes, i. e. 'Our House' by Madness.

I tried to listen to Mix and Hot...I guess I'm too old for that stuff.

Also Star 92.1, 102.7 GNI, and Sunny 96.9 are also some good stations to listen to.

I've been a little disappointed in GNI the past few years. There was a time (uh oh, geezer talk coming up) when the folks at GNI made no bones about the fact that they only hired talent that would otherwise be in a much larger market, and they paid them well. They've really gotten soft. Soft in the music and soft on the bench. They are one case of pneumonia from having to go to the bird for programming.

Because I'm such a geezer, I have to listen to WKZQ because that's the lone remainder from my MB days. I also listen to Sunny 106.5, but they were top 40 when I made my summer trips to MB.
