Sunny 98.5 Panama City

Have anyone notice the last month or so if Sunny 98.5 singal got downgrade or having prombs? I normaly get it around Tallahassee and Crawfordville and Big Bend. I still get WPAP 92.5 and WFLF 94.5 comes in okay. I do know that 99.3 The Beat is 50,000 watts while WFLF,WPAP,WFSY all at 100,000 watts.

They are also getting ready to fire up the 10 watt WAFT translator again on 98.3 from the tower at North Florida Baptist Church on North Meridian Road. Don't know if this is part of the issues or not.

I'm 10 miles from that tower but the translator signal comes in pretty strong here east of Tallahassee.

The antenna was destroyed by lightning in late February.....the new antenna is being manufactured in California and will be delivered around April 15....we should be back up to full power of 100 kw at 1100 ft a few days after the new antenna is delivered. We are currently operating from our backup site which covers Bay County only with about 4 kw at 300 ft.

Replacing a full power 12 bay FM antenna on a 1150 ft tower is a big deal.....and expensive.

My guess is there is plenty of video on this knowing a certain Engineer that doesn't miss a thing! Man, I can't recall or imagining a time when 98.5 wasn't booming. That's got to make the dial sound interesting when you get 75 miles from PC. How's far is that 4kw's getting out, CCENG?

PS - I also hope there's pictures! If Double = was around, l'd blame them for creating man made lightning.

Sunny went bye-bye when Cat Country 98.7 signed on... so I hadn't noticed. Otherwise, Sunny, PAP and the Great 108 always blanketed the panhandle "back in the day".

no new tower....new antenna.....antenna arrived in Dothan AL at the Yellow Freight Terminal on Friday....too late to make the Panama City delivery.....will be delivered Monday.....expect to hear Sunny back on some time on Wednesday if we can get 2 days of good weather (no wind or rain) and if all goes well

On the Grundig, I can null out Cat and hear 98.5 almost loud and clear but these days, you really need an outdoor antenna aimed eastbound.

The Great 108 sounds awesome. Radio back in it's hay day was really booming.

Rob you saying PFM is not Hot 107pirnt9 but now the great 108? CCENG if they did that, after the purchase, there ain't enough gin in FLA.

I got this. Tab A goes into slot B. Black wire is for the ground. Everything else is extra parts, just throw them in the back of your truck and forget about them.

The weather this week would be great sunny skies would no rain or showers this week to get the new antenna up and running back in full power.

You just HAD to do it the right way? Someone should have taught you how to take shortcuts.
