Sunny flip? Twister going away?

The rumors continue. The Twister riding off in the sunset and Sunny going Spanish, Latino, Hurban, whatever. I know the CC heads have made some real stupid moves in DFW, but could this actually be TRUE? Who in the world is the idiot who is even THINKING about this? That's just what we need. Another Latino station. I'm sure after a year they were expecting some better numbers out of Sunny, but look at our heritage, legendary KVIL. They've been around for decades and STILL can't find the formula to win. At least Sunny's music variety sounds decent. KLUV will continue to do OK with oldies, but hey, how many Monkees can we stand? And JACK? They can continue to play what they want but the party has worn off. The bore factor increases by the minute. They need some excitement. They need jocks. They need SOMETHING! If CC is really going to make this "bone-head" move, (sorry to bring up Mr. Strong) then I guarantee all these companies looking at buying Susquehanna and ABC will have the green light to take over where Sunny left off and squash KVIL while they're still down. (not a huge chore at this time). If CC comes to their senses in time, they can still pull it off. Otherwise, it's "buenas dias" on 97.1, and DFW radio gets even sadder.

That's why me loves me some Sirius! :-D

First things first Sunny is owned by Clear Channel, The Twister is owned by ABC.
Don't fall for any rumors about Twister. The "stunting" promotions folks at ABCare inoverdrive starting offwith the "rotating"talk shows on WBAP in the Afternoons in order to have you tune in.Second,They want you to stay tuned to the Twister as the rumours mount. Will they flip? Who knows and who really cares except sales people? It will be some homonoginized format IF they do. Regretably formats targeting a spanish audience is quite popular now. My humble opinion is that more and more non spanish speaking listeners are turning off terrestial radio with its over abundance of spots plus the the same old shorten playlist and going to satellite,Ipods and the internet. The Talk format seem to be the only format they will use radio for. Radio overall is on its slow death slide.

Reality check: Hispanic market is GROWING. Anglo market is SHRINKING.

Sadder? Clear Channel's flip of Houston's KLOL to Hurban is looking like a stroke of genius, replacing a decrepit Album Rock format with a dynamic new concept for today's 12-34 demos.

Gotta go where the market growth is.

Why stop with just one station? CC should turn all of their DFW stations into spanish language formats.

little ed's thoughts ... trashing the Spanish community among them

Thanks for the information.

Or any women who work in radio.

Keep in mind that he is an disgruntled, ex-employee.

Are you British little ed? Because in this country we spell it rumors.

Then why did you respond to the post?

Regrettably?

Talking about trashing an entire segment of the population and only the fastest growing in Dallas.

Congratulations little ed.

One day, Hispanics will be the majority, not a minority population.

Yada, yada, yada ... one trend and he flips out.

little ed, the Hispanic-formatted stations are gaining because the population is growing.

Comprende?

Experts said that about radio when television caught fire after World War II too.

I wonder if CC would consider the gold based regional Mexican "Preciosa" format in DFW? It has excellent ratings in some West Coast markets (although was off in the month of June).

Would Preciosa be successful in Texas or only work on the West coast? I don't know if the music Preciosa plays would be familiar to Texas hispanics? If not, CC could come up with a Texas version of the format.
