Sunny is a big surprise

I cannot believe the size of their Christmas library. In past years, I do not remember all the "oh wow" Christmas tunes they are shelling out this time around. I heard many country tunes, songs from the early 50's, and a load of Standard artists doing holiday songs. Music Choice cannot compare with Sunny, I thought MC was going to get off to a good start, but most of their songs are from the late 90's to the present and have a non-Christmas feel. Bravo to Sunny, for adding a refreshing change to the oversaturated urban dial, since the demise of Y-100 and YSP, at least there is something to listen to for us humans that do not care for urban. Thanks again..

Then why is their non-Christmas programming so stultifyingly dull? If they put as much effort and energy into programming THAT music, perhaps more people would feel about them as you do.

Kind of a waste of a frequency, imho.

This opinion never ceases to amaze me. I always hear songs on Sunny that I would definitely not hear in Philly if it Star or Alice were still around.

And even if you don't like the playlist, it's not a waste of a frequency because it's serving exactly the purpose Clear Channel wants it to!

Long live Sunny! ;-)

Umm...

Isn't SUNNY the lowest-rated (12-plus) FM in Philly? I suppose that it is "serving exactly the purpose Clear Channel wants it to".

That would be, I assume, as a doorstop.

It's keeping B101 down so that another Clear Channel station could be #1.
______________

from what i hear the station is always top 5 in adult women. not sure of the definition of "adult women" but there you have it. Also with a former career in sales, selling adult women is easier and more profitable than say teens on WIRED. I never did have anyone ever ask for the 12+ demo! :)

Oh, I forgot. 12+ ratings determine whether a station is a winner or a loser. And I also forgot that everyone on this message board knows exactly what CC's intentions are in keeping Sunny around. Silly me.

Flanking B101 and WOGL? Making the other CC properties are kept in the top spots?
______________

And the John Tesh morning show? Sounds a bit dull and dry. I imagine that it is a cheap situation but will it fly?

Don't get your panties in a wad. Who knows WHY CC continues to "program" SUNNY as they do. Masochism? Indifference? Laziness? Incompetence? Hilarity? Boredom? Despondency? Fecundity? Antidisestablishmentarianism?

Better still...why don't YOU apply to program for them? :)

Re: Sunny even more of a big surprise.

Just heard Jimmy Durante and a host load of other Christmas songs that were not played in this area for ages. They sound like the satellite feed from the old WJBR-A, when they played Christmas music from the Standard artists. If Sunny continues this trend, when they flip back to regular music and play this "oh wow" stuff, it would sound fantastic.

It was a wild guess. The other choice was a thong.

Relax. Your secret's safe with us. :)

What Is it with sunny and playing the song by DAN FOGELBERG, Same Old Lang Syne. It's CONSTANTLY on! They do have a MUCH Wider variety it sounds like this year however. But That song is annoying. I turn them on, and there he's singing "I met her in a grocery store..." It gets annoying after a while!
