Sunny slips big time

1059 Sunny FM has really slipped in the last few months. They have dominated Orlando ratings for a while now, but they really seem to be fading fast. Rick Stacy has really turned the morning show into an radical conservative anger fest that resembles a Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity on Fox News. Has that schtick alienated some that are there for the music?

Back in the old days when a station went down or up they used to use the excuse of diary placement. Can't do that in this market anymore, (PPM placement ;)). I'm sure they will improve in the next few books. I don't care for the political BS talk WOCL does in the morning either. They're supposed to be a music station and should stick to playing the same burnt out 80's songs along with a choice few 70's disco and 90's hits. I would love to see the breakdown ratings in the mornings. But all I can get is this, Nielsen Audio Ratings
Talk about slipping, look at what happens to WMGF after the December & Holiday books.

I just feel like WOCL has stood out now for a long time as an exceptionally creative and well executed Classic Hits station. But the morning show has honestly alienated me enough where I don't listen to other dayparts anymore.

Using the last three non-Holiday books from last year, in 25-54 WOCL is 4th in mornings, 9th in middays, 8th in PM Drive and 6th in evenings. In 12+ it is #2 in mornings.

The January book is suspect everywhere due to high holiday period panel turnover, the inability to fully add to the panel due to meter shortages and the overall instability of the pandemic.

Wow. Given the content of that morning show in the last few years, that surprises me for this market. Kudos to them for knowing what they're doing then

It seems really apparent that this is a case of low counts and it’s happening nationally. I am surprised there is not outcry on this as it causes so many millions of dollars of lost revenue/buys and the cost to buy the numbers is off the charts. Sorry, stations cannot drop 5 points in one month and then be top three the next.

Remember, those who buy strategically using ratings don't look at just one book. They usually average multiple books, and exclude the Christmas season and, sometimes, July and August too. .

Quite aware of that David. You are the king of studying trends and keeping stats. How is it possible to see these insane Tower of Terror style drops on book and back up the next. Used to be more like roller coaster ups and downs. We all contend the numbers used in these surveys are so small that they are not reflective of true listenership. I am sure you have heard this.
