Sunny XM 24 - Just like Sunny 104.5

nd2023

Banned
I recently got XM, and besides BPM, another channel that I like is Sunny 24. It sounds just like Sunny 104.5 in Philly used to, and it even has commercials! Why are there commercials on that channel?

Still XM shouldnt allow it!!!!

XM is a paid service,NO COMMERCIALS SHOULD BE ON ANY OF THIER STREAMS!!!

If they cant find anyone to do it w/o spam, then THEY NEED TO DO THE STREAMS THEMSELVES!!!!!

Who wants to pay to hear spam??

Uhh...they can't. If they unplugged the channels, Clear Channel would sue them.

If you don't remember, from 2001 to 2004, XM music channels DID have commercials. In 2004 they voluntarily chose to go commercial free, and partners like Univision and Radio-One pulled out because they didn't agree. Clear Channel on the other hand, stayed around and later arbitrated the decision, and was awarded the right to put commercials on their channels. Those channels are permanent until about a year from now when the deal is up.

Besides, do you pay for cable TV?

And when XM was ordered to allow Clear Channel to put commercials on their stations, XM went and added an additional commercial-free channel with the same exact format for each channel. They also yanked the Clear Channel stations off DirecTv and XM online. Each of the Clear Channel stations was replaced with the new commercial-free station. My presets on XM online even changed they replaced Mix 22 with Flight 26 for me and the same on DirecTv. Channel 818 was Mix 22 and now is Flight 26.

Sunny used to sound just like Escape does now. Escape replaced Sunny on XM online and DirecTv. In Philly, 104.5 sounds much better as Radio 104.5, Alt Rock back in Philly!

Pulling this thread back to say, if you haven't noticed, Sunny changed playlists. AGAIN.

It's basically now 70s-80s-early 90s AC, with a greater focus on the 80s.

i hate clear channel but i like the format. so i will listen till a commercial comes on to check it out.

I first heard Sunny 24 in the hospital of all places. It was playing on the overhead speakers. I found the A/C format quite nice it was a bit broader musically than the two A/C stations in town (Clear channel and CBS). The commercial sets were not as long as what we have on commercial radio.

The main reason I got XM was to hear radio c-l-e-a-r-l-y...having commericals didn't/doesn't really bother me.

Where I live(mountain area) radio tens to be spotty and listen times for almost any given station vary due to the local geography.

So I'm glad to have XM just so radio comes in clearly and to be able to hear whatever type of music I want and news at other than top of the hour.

I have a friend who lives in Kennet Square Pa. (30 Miles west of Philly) and the radio reception is horrible. You cannot even get the AM stations from Philly there!
