Sunny's CHRISTmas music is Classic Gold

I become more surprised every day with the CHRISTmas music being added by Sunny. They are spanning 6 decades, everything from Country, Rock, Folk, Beach, Soul, Motown, Standard, Pop, Opera, Comedy, and Instrumental artists. I feel I am listening to a great oldies station, not knowing what is going to be featured next, which is the sign of a great programmed format. If this trend would continue after the holidays, with pop oldies, they would be the best CLASSIC oldies station on the planet. They must be good, they took me away from WYSP. BTW, how could I find out what song they played tonight at 7:10, "Noel" by a female artist with a fantastic voice, I just wish they would give title and artist on all their CHRISTmas music??

Amen,

An all Christmas format that acknowledges the full spectrum of Christmas music.
Thre's more to Christmas music than Kenny G.

By the way, I am looking for a Christmas feature called "The Customs of Christmas". They are 60 second stories about Christmas traditions. Does anyone know where I can find this?

If I hear something I am unfamiliar with, I go to their website at sunny1045.com to see who is singing. They keep a log of songs played within the hour. That doesn't help when I'm in the car away from home or the computer is unavailable, though! You can use the email link on their site and maybe you'll get a specific rely. Sometimes I get a specific reply back (they told me a song I hadn't heard, Vince Gill's Let There Be Peace on Earth, was going to play the next day and the hour it was going to play in), but other times I get a generic reply that doesn't address my request (Amy Grant's Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song)...I assume that means "thanks for the request, but it's not gonna happen!")

Check out www.yes.com and type in WSNI for the call letters. You can see their playlist for the past 24 hours by selecting the hour on the right side.

After starting out with an amazing amount of repetition (it felt like they were banging about 15 songs that tested extremely well--LOL), they really have blown wide open. It seems much more eclectic than in years past. But I still miss Aretha's "Winter Wonderland." They had it on the Web stream until they synched that up with the broadcast.

The only problem now is that whenever they play one of those initial 15 songs, I want to change the station! And on Friday night, we'll have an alternative station to turn to!

I don't think the "B" has a chance now, Sunny is snowballing and has a good head start, I don't think the "B" can compete music wise. Myself, being a die-hard Rocker at 56(probably the oldest poster on the board), has tuned to them to re-live the old CHRISTmas music I grew up with on WIBBAGE/WIP/WPEN. I know there are many other older folks that are flocking over from OGL, XTU, BEN, B, MGK, RNB, DAS-F, and MMR that want to re-live childhood memories at a much better time in America. If YSP was music intense 24/7, and did not revamp the format, I might not have even noticed Sunny, but YSP is not after my demo in no way, shape or form anyway.

Keep listening to Sunny! I actually heard Aretha's "Winter Wonderland" last night around 7:20PM I believe---just after the first stop set of the hour.

As far as the rest of the variety---I agree that it is much better than what many other stations put out for their Christmas formats. A GOOD mix of old new, and different genres. Where I live in Central NJ, I have to put my antenna up high at home to get Sunny, but when I want Christmas music, it's worth the wait. New York's LITE-FM and WMGQ New Brunswick (if they sound the same as they did last year when they flip this year) don't hold a candle to Sunny's holiday variety.

According to yes.com, it was 7:21 to be exact! Thanks for the info!

I just wish they'd play it more often than once a day. Considering how often they play Johnny Mathis and The Carpenters, I don't think I'm asking too much! :)

You're welcome! Any time!

Ironically, within the time between 7:00PM-7:30 PM tonight, 11/16, The Carpenters' "Sleigh Ride," and once again, Johnny Mathis' "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas." But, that's life. I don't mind those songs as much as if they were played with nothing in between, but as many have mentioned, the variety (for a Christmas music station) is not bad at all!
