super bowl ads in canada?

I've often wondered, each year, as the Super Bowl airs and so much hype are put into the "million dollar" ads....what about Canadian viewers? I'm certain that the rediculous CRTC sim-sub rule is put into effect, substituting whatever Canadian net is airing the game, over the U.S. (channel) net feed, for cable viewers, blocking out those all-important ads. And, I assume the rule applies to satellite owners too? But what kind of ads do THEY air? Anything like here in the U.S? I would think border viewers would be thankful for having the U.S. nets available OTA... or do they care?

Okay...... Regarding the non-responsive tone to this question... ::) ...which I thought had some validity, I'm guessing there IS a somewhat "ho-hum" reaction. Or perhaps to the game itself, which is of little local or national interest... as far as who wins. The question was only based upon the hype and pre-interest that the spots seem to have stateside. Given the money and creativity that's invested, we know the advertizers are expecting a large interest as well.

Up until now, I was saying "go Pats"... but so far.... they're behind! :-[

Seems there was a thread about this a couple of years ago, and the Canadians indicated they just saw run-of-the-mill Canadian ads and no special effort to create new ads for the Canadian Super Bowl audience, however large or small it may be. How much NFL finds it's way to Canadian TV?

Ads for an insurance company(but not a fun one), car ads, movie ads, promos for the Oscars, The Amazing Race and The Voice. A Canadian Budweiser ad about a semi pro Hockey game. One good one for Samsung phones.

A rather ho-hum affair actually, as far as ads go.

Almost everyone has cable in Canada so, OTA is moot.

Not too much actually. Perhaps just the Super Bowl. Most of the games are on Pay TV.

Hmmm. Interesting. I always thought Monday Night Football (if nothing else) was carried on a northern net.

Actually NFL games are just as accessable in Canada as they are in the USA. We get the games on Sunday that are carried on whatever affiliates carried by cable/satellite provider. In addition CTV carries games on Sunday too. Of course, Sunday night and Monday night games are broadcast here too. Plus we have access to NFL Sunday Ticket, NFL Redzone, and NFL network.

I can't comment directly about todays Superbowl commercials in Canada, but historically they are everyday commercials you would see during any sporting event. Fortunately for me my satellite provider (Shaw direct) does not simsub everyone. I was able to see the US NBC feed because CTV does not have a OTA signal in my area. However people living within 75 km of the OTA signal carrying the game, would have been simsubbed. I know that Bell satellite and Rogers cable simsubs everything because they don't have the ability to selectively simsub subscribers.

Actually there were some really good ads fresh and new in Canada this year for Public Mobile,

Bell owns CTV, so you'd think they'd hog all the Public mobile spots with all their dull boring cell/tv/internet ads.

Not so.

Here's one of the Public Mobile ads:

(although, many years ago, the Bell ads with the beavers were still good)

I had both the TV and internet on. I googled "Watch NBC Live" and got the American ads that way.
While some links chose to close during the game, most did not.
I hope it stays that way. I enjoy watching both to see what comes up.
