Super Bowl Ratings Record

This year's Super Bowl broke a ratings record. More than 126 million people watched.

A projected 126 million viewers tuned into the Chiefs-Eagles matchup, per FOX Sports, topping the 123.7 million registered during Kansas City's win over the San Francisco 49ers last year to become the most-watched Super Bowl ever. A reported change in how Nielsen measures out-of-home viewing was expected to boost the 2025 championship game's TV ratings.

There was a lot of discussion on social media about the Kendrick Lamar halftime show. The ratings peaked in the time immediately before halftime.

Viewing peaked at 135.7 million from 8-8:15 p.m. ET, during the game’s second quarter, when the Eagles were building a 24-0 halftime lead. But viewers clearly stuck around for Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, which included the rapper performing his Grammy-winning, Drake-beefing hit “Not Like Us,” and the second half of the game.

The ratings prove that much of the online chatter is just nonsense. Many people were saying they would boycott the NFL because it's rigged. They claimed the Chiefs had paid off the Refs (because they were playing in their 5th Super Bowl in the past 6 years). The Eagles dominated the game. It was reminiscent of the 80s and 90s when Super Bowls were often blowouts...
