Super Gulf tropo

Extremely intense tropo over the Gulf has been going since yesterday. Distances up to 1000 miles common from Florida to Texas.
Luchtime check today I'm finding Tampa FM's covering local stations, Texas coast FM's and 107.1 Matamoros, Mexico still in.
Expect it to get stronger this evening and continue for the next couple days.
Good luck.

heard 107.3 "the eagle"
97.1 "97X"
102.5 - classic rock (tampa?)
101.1 - easy listening (naples) and PCB
makes me wonder if YCL moved to 50,000 according to the CP. it's bloody weak.

-Rob

107.5 K HITS over country (weak)
107.1 soft rock now (tampa gone)

-Rob (who can't modify the original post)

more..

103.1 (rel) over our own local MIX 103.1
102.9 sounds like christian music mixing with another station (port myers sp?)
107.9 WSRC or Zed (sarasota oldies)

it's amazing how many station this radio is pulling..

randy, im sure you picked up more then me!

103.1 religious is WOSM Ocean Sprs, MS
102.9 Chrsitian KAJN Crowley, LA
107.9 WSRZ Coral Cove, FL oldies
107.5 KHTC Lake Jackson/Houston, TX "K-Hits"

you're getting some of the stronger usual tropo stations. Right now 101.7 and 106.9 from Veracruz, Mexico (977 miles) are pounding in

wonder if me being 70 feet above sea level has anything to do with it.

TV is just as amazing too. In Southeast LA, I was able to pull some Northeast Louisiana stations, such as KTVE, and even the digital channel of Fox 16 in Little Rock. Snapped a shot of the bug. Pretty cool.

Local New Orleans stations are being torn to shreds. AI on Fox in New Orleans on analog cable in unwatchable Wednesday.

no antenna for tv (doh)
but on cable, channel 10 is bleeding (WALA)

and digital ALA is plp (poopy loopy pipes - breaking up)

Signals are not very strong this evening but some Texas coast stations are showing. 93.9 KMXR Corpus Christi "Oldies 93.9"
KXGJ 101.7 and KJOJ 103.3 both Spanish. KMKS Bay City "Hot Country 102.5" are there.

I managed two new stations the other day with 105.1 KMAT Seadrift, TX and 97.3 XHVB Villahermosa, Tabasco "Extremo FM" a nice surprise with 14kw and 947 miles and the first tropo to that Mexican state. I'm now 3 shy of 2100 logged

The forecast maps are now looking good halfway into next week so this may continue.

all i need to do is watch some of the HD channels for breakup (UHF) and if there gone, tropo is here.
the headend is some 65 miles from the nearest transmitter.

Tropo is repeating this Saturday evening. Currently spanning the furthest distance across the Gulf of Mexico with fair reception of 107.5 XHOM Coatzacoalcos, Mexico "Amor 107.5 solo musica romantica" at 979 miles. But with considerable interference from KCIL Houma, Louisiana (255 miles) and KHTC "Houston's K-Hits" (520 miles)

101.7, 102.9, and 106.9 from Veracruz, Mexico have also been heard this evening since about 4:45pm.
