I really wanted to see Super talk work. I think competition is good no matter what the product. The few fans of Super talk need to come to the conclusion like I have that this is not working. Sadly...I must conclude it is only a matter of time.

The mismatching of programming and the almost unlistenable local shows is never going to make this a success. In doing some surfing today I found this. It would appear Cumulus is wasting little time with the bad showing in the latest listener estimates.

Looks more like a domain squater than anything else, did you buy the domain as the domain was just registered today? You could not have been "surfing" as you said and just happened to find the site in some search engine.

Furthermore wgrr's website is already wgrr.com, no need to change it to 965wgrr.com. Also, no reason to swap signals with 96.5 as 103.5 is clearly working for the station, even though I hate the classic hits format.

I don"t know. I just went to the register site and was typing in a bunch of combinations. It would make sense though considering the new direction of 1035. It would be great to here the early 60's stuff again. Ands Marty with the party is going to be doing that national oldies show.

Just adding in my thoughts.

Don't hold your breath about early 60s on WGRR. The current TKO shows are very "classic top 40" with mostly 70s..in fact one of the offerings is called "Into the 70s". Don't look for doo-wop on "Hall of Fame C2c".

New direction on WGRR has been working without changing frequencies, no real reason to do so. Also no reason to change SuperTalk just yet as its only been two books.

I looked up super talk

965wgrr.com may be a fake.

I think it's more than unfair to say supertalk isnt working when it has had two ratings books and only one local show. Wait for them to go all local and give them a couple books after that.

FM is for music! I don't see why it would be important to anyone to hear talk talk talk in stereo. Maybe a debate with each person coming out of the right and left speakers? I don't think so. Didn't AM stations, or a lot of them, go to talk because the music sounded better on FM? At least the music of the last 30 years. There has to be a format that 96.5 can utilize that beats talk talk talk.

I have a friend involved with Supertalk, and I try to tell him in the nicest way possible, Supertalk stinks. That may just be because I'm a kid who listens to CHR, but there could've been many other formats used for 96.5 other than Talk. Doesn't Cumulus know it's not going to work? WLW has it down, and there's plenty of AM talk's you can pick up if you have a good stereo, so why do we need Supertalk? Cumulus needs to dump it. But flipping WGRR to 96.5 is insane! 103.5 has a excellent signal. I hear them all the time in downtown Dayton, as with 96.5. They just need to dump what's on 96.5. WGRR is working fine on 103.5.. but Supertalk isn't working on 96.5

I'm not a radio guy, I work at Ford in Sharonville. We cant get AM radio in the building because of all the electric lines, floresent lights and exposed steel beams holding the place up. Alot, and I mean alot of people were happy to hear that SuperTalk was on the air. Now here is the but, Mancow is ok at best. Glen Beck has got to go. We need a local talent in the 9:00am to Noon spot. When you call into Mcconnell with something local, you get the brush off plus if you mention a local area, he says "who cares, no one knows where that is!" so he has lost his local appeal. I know, ratings say otherwise. A good local host with area topics would be great. And here is a switch, how about Ed Schultz from Noon to 3:00pm. He was the only show on 1530 WCKY that got noticed and was the only bright spot. Plus he is a just left of center guy. Orielly doesnt work in this market. Way oo much conservative talk in this market. It is crowded. I love Dave Ramsey but carry him from 9:00pm to midnight, dump Humpries. From 3:00pm to 5:00pm a local & national news type show with local commentary. 5:00-8:00pm Andy Furhman, dump Valentine. 8:00pm t0 9:00pm Local News recap with market reports. Weekends keep the same as now. No one will listen until Miami U starts football and basketball.

With what? And for how much $$??
I don't THINK so.

If SuperTalk doesnt work, dump the format for Classic Rock. No not your dads classic rock. A classic Rock station that doesnt play Crosby, Still & Nash, James Taylor, the Doors, Cream (or whatever rendition of Clapton) or Mellencamp. We've got two of those stations already 92.5 and 103.5.

Playlist:
Styx - Blue Collar Man
Motley Crue - Same 'Ole Situation
Van Halen - Running with the Devil
UFO - Too Hot to Handle
***Commercial ****
Dokken - Its Not Love
Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic
Tesla - Modern Day Cowboy
Billy Squier - The Stroke
*** Commercial ****
Golden Earing - Twilight Zone
Rush - Tom Sawyer
Queensryche- Jet City Woman
Bon Jovi - Runaway
**** Commercial ****
Def Leppard - Foolin'
Kiss - Lick It Up
Sammy Hagar - I Cant Drive 55
Drivin N' Cryin - Fly Me Courageous

I think you get the point. Dads classic rock is getting to be the new oldies and very stale.

Yes, and as I understand it, it's going to be a 70's based show.

Talk works on FM. But, it has to have a direction and focus, which it seems this station lacks.

"Orielly doesnt work in this market." Mr. Fordworker where's your research to back this up? Two books for 96.5? The year it was on 1160 with its horrible signal?

"Glenn Beck has got to go." He did pretty well on WKRC until CC dumped him for Tony Snow. What was the story there?

Did anybody even notice that all of the younger male stations took a hit this time? Was my post about The FOX losing 63% of Bob & Tom's audience ignored? Bob & Tom are immensely popular in this market. There's no way they lost that much audience. How about Lance losing 30% of his audience? I don't believe that for a second. How about The Sound taking double-digit losses? More people are listening to these stations than Arbitron is reporting.

Classic Rock? Are you kidding? That would make TWO Classic Hits/Rock formats in the same building. 96.5 was a great country signal, but they can't even put country back on it if they wanted to. Any talk of a format change is ridiculous at this point anyway. It's only been two full books folks.

When was the last time Fox or WEBN played anyone of those tunes (except for big hair wednesday and not make fun of it afterwards)? They dont! Those tunes arent dope smokin tunes for dad to relax too on the way home or when jr wants to fire up at 4:20. rock n roll was fun, really fun. now its just about $$$ and begging the corporate station to play you. Bret micheals begs stations to play his material, thats why he kisses WEBN's ass about every 90 days on the BHW show.

WEBN is set up on the Best of :GNR, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Lynard Skynard, anything Chris Cornell & Godsmack. Pretty much all they play with a nickleback or offspring tune thrown in.

the fox plays what they have been playing for 25 years.

Are you guys so insane that you think Talk Formats only works on AM?

Point A: It takes time - I've never seen such impatient, "doomed to fail attitudes" anywhere as on this board. Your loyalty to CC is very tiring.

Point B: Everything sounds better on FM - period. Yes, even talk. Have you ever tried to listen to the "Big One" or any other AM signal during a thunderstorm or severe electrical interference? Didn't think so.

Point C: Get real - you only have to go upriver to Pittsburgh to see that it can work - if done properly.

Check out the latest ratings for WPGB.

http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRRa...SU=CM&BPER=7.9&HPER=&OPER=&NSD=8/23/2007&CE=0

Matter of fact, the 'burgh has another sports/talk format on FM - WTZN (The Zone). Note: Pittsburgh and Cincy are very similar in many ways.

Final Point: It can work given time, resources and local programming......

Stay tuned.
