Super Vision

Anyone care to explain "Super Vision" that CBS has been using heavily the last couple of weeks on NFL games?

Probably another ploy for CBS to promote they've got the "Super Bowl".

Don't be surprised if it's gone next year, or any year CBS doesn't have the Big Game.

It is some sort of enhanced image, just curious how it works. Colors are different from the live pic also? Noticeable in HD.

CBS debuted SuperVision in 2000 I think for the Super Bowl. It seems that they were merging multiple camera angles into one picture. And I don't recall having seen it since then.

Looked that up on the internet and that was something else called eyevision? Whatever it is it seems to key on an object like the football?

OK, I did get the two confused.

In EyeVision, one camera is operated by a live person with a joystick. Then a computer aligns a series of additional cameras to capture the same scene automatically. To get a full picture, 52 cameras would be set up in this manner.

I'm not entirely certain how SuperVision works. It sure seems like a computer generated image by some mathematical formula.

Isn't SuperVision just super slow motion video or am I confusing it with something else?

It is a totally different look when they feature the "supervision" shot. Like it has been digitally enhanced?

I think it's the same thing, and it's been around for a while. It involves special cameras shooting at 90 (or more) frames per second, so there is smoother motion when slow-moed.

Yeah I figured a higher frame rate had to be a factor. It's a nice little thing. Better than EyeVision.

It's very similar to the "Bizhub Swing Vision" that CBS uses for PGA Tour coverage...I really like the shots these cameras provide personally
