SuperTalk dumps Michael Savage

Good. His comments were not only inaccurate but extremely hateful. I hope other affiliates dump him too.

While I'm glad he's off the air locally, there are many things Savage has said just about as bad or even worse than this that should've gotten taken off the air.

Savage is just another far right, fearmongering barbarian that sets this country back. He is so full himself and worse yet no one ever tranqulizes and straight jackets him like deserves.

Guys Like Savage just do what they do to stir it up and get ratings, content? Not a concern. I can't deal with most, if not all, political hosts.

Politics aside, I can't imagine Savage, with his in-your-face New York approach, playing well in the deep South... ???

He's actually out of San Francisco. He'd been on SuperTalk for several years, so if people wouldn't have caught on to him, he'd been dumped a long time ago. Plus, Savage is one of the more popular talk show hosts out there, so that's a huge audience that's being blown off.

Doesn't it seem odd that Telesouth would use his autism comments to drop him instead of some of the more out-there things he's said in the past?

Mewonders if this wasn't just "right place right time" for them to dump the show and get a little attention in the media.

That's what I said a few posts up. It's amazing to me when radio personalities get away with saying a lot of offensive things, but one little comment and all of a sudden, the powers that be will pretend that they found religion and act all self-righteous. I know Savage has said things much worse than his recent comments. Like with Imus after his comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team, people suddenly acted like he crossed the line when he's said things worse than that for years. If SuperTalk would've dumped Savage after his incident on MSNBC five years ago, then that would be a different story.

A good point, but perhaps the answer lies in what you said about so many prior comments. Maybe it is a cummulative effect, or a "Stress Fracture" if you will!

Of course Telesouth has the right to carry the programming that they choose, but it is my personal opinion that their hasty action kept MS listeners from hearing Savage's informative, week-long, post-comment discussion on the whole matter. Summary on http://www.savageonautism.com/

R&R says he's back on in Jackson.

"Talk Broadcasting sports WPBQ/Jackson, Miss., will be adding Savage..."

Much more interestingly:

"(WPBQ Owner Bill) Fulgham says Savage will help "jump start" the station's return to news/talk..."

Oh really? Full article here: http://www.radioandrecords.com/

WPBQ was talk back when it was a new station. I used to listen to Neil Boortz and Michael Reagon all the time. I haven't been able to hear Boortz in several years because no other station around here would carry it. Unless I catch a skip from WSB Atlanta. WPBQ's signal isn't very bad in the car. But a cheap clock radio may be a problem. In my area the power lines make so much noise that the entire AM band (and even weak FM) is completly obliterated throughout my neighborhood and for several miles in every direction. Nobody at the power company seems to care about static anymore. It even messes up my television and gets into the VCR when watching tapes (which I rarely do anymore) I thought there was a law against that much noise.
