SuperTalk

Mr. Nasti: You really should do research before you post. I don't want to violate the rules with Arbitron numbers, but Andy's cume rating (NOT share) was HIGHER than Mcallister's, even in the Winter when there's no baseball. His cume rating is almost a share and a half higher and he has almost 7000 more cume persons. This was figured by doing 3 PM to 6 PM for Lance on WCKY and 6 PM to 9 PM for Andy on WLW. You should do some research into how big "Sports Talk" on WLW is. It launched the network TV careers of Bob Trumpy, Cris Collinsworth, and Boomer Esiason. This is not some evening show on a sports talk station. This is THE BIG ONE and it's a monster.

Wouldn't the share also be larger than McCalisters?

The share isn't necessarily higher just because the rating is. I would bet that afternoon drive shares are higher because people listen longer while they're commuting. A higher rating means more people tuned in, but a higher share means they listened longer. Both shows had fluctuation. Mr. Nasti seemed to be overly concerned about RATING not SHARE and that's why I highlighted that.

I agree with microbob. Furman was good "get" but the rest of the staion is made up of the leftovers that none of the big talk stations wanted.

As for Denny: Yeah okay...I can live with that. Denny's an easy moneymaker. Gardening on Saturday mornings....fine. I wouldn't listen to it, but I'm sure it's a solid revenue stream. I'd rather hear FM talk on FM, but clearly that ain't gonna happen with this station yet.

You're right, I should do more research :) In fact, you just did it for me!

I've been trolling for those #'s without success and figured if I threw enough bombs out there, someone would bite and share some #'s with me. If you're info is correct (and I have no reason to doubt its not!), Cincinnati is truly a unique market as others have pointed out to me.

Thanks for the heads-up...

I think I know where the confusion is, I was talking about AQH Rating and AQH Share, which rank wise would be the same as a rating is the percentage out of the total universe and share is the percentage out of those currently listening to radio. Cume rating is different than AQH share :) Either way with the press that Furman is getting, its going to be a big week at least for SuperTalk.

Syndicated talk shows just get THE BEST callers, don't they?

:D

Yeah, especially syndicated shows heard in three markets. I remember listening to Tammy Bruce when she added Phoenix, and every caller was from Phoenix. That would be OK, except the station had about a 0.3 share at the time - every who called got right on through and on the air!

You may be right about Furman...or you may be wrong. Time will tell. However, the "cume" belongs to WLW...not
Andy Furman. It's station cume...not personality cume. And, with the long-standing reputation of the "Sportstalk" show,
(which has been on the air for decades), it's highly doubtful all of the WLW/Sportstalk cume will leave, just because a host went across the street. How big a "cume" did Bob Trumpy get when he left WLW and worked on other stations?
