Surprise catches from South Texas.

What a night, so far down the whole dial, I've been receiving station all the way from South Texas to Dallas.
So far here is a rundown of the dial

107.9-At first, I was receiving KIXS, and then the HD started to blink and I locked in KQQK for about 10 seconds, then the HD dropped and went back to KIXS, but as soon as I went back to KIXS, 3 seconds later, the screen name changed from KQQK to KVLY. No joke people, couldn't get a lock from KVLY, but wow. Has anyone else have this happen before (jras?)
107.5-KXTN was strong as always, but I locked up the HD for a while
107.3-local KHTZ
106.7-KPWT was strong and clear and with a lock on HD for about 3 minutes (came in and out)
105.9-KUKA was killing KUZN
104.9-Another Corpus station (KMIQ)
104.5-KZEP was clear
102.9-For the first time, I'm able to hear Da Bomb (KNDA) here in College Station
102.3-KPEZ
101.7-A mixture of KTCY and KXGJ.
99.9- KSAB and WACO battling it out.
98.7-KLUV
98.1-KVET
97.7-I thought this sounded like a local (KLTO)
96.9-KNTE beat the hell out of local KACB. Not only that, but was able to lock it in HD for a very long time.
96.7-KHFI (actually, this is a daily catch throughout the day)
95.7- Battle between KKHH and KLEY
94.7-The Mix out of Austin KAMX
93.3-KDHT (a surprise it wasnt KPTY)
92.7 KKBY out of Corpus, very clear.

I am in College Station. I forgot to mention, at 4 AM, I was able to listen to station from Shreveport, LA. K945 and KVKI.
I also got an oldies station at 97.7, but can't figure out where it is coming from. Anyone know?

Radio locator might help you out.

Between about 4:00 and 6:00 PM on April 10, skip was out of control in East Texas. It was a difficult day. Things seem back to normal now.

This site might be of assistance also.

http://www.recnet.com/fmmap/
The thing with recnet is that it does not give you the format of the station, other than that, the maps are very neat.
A Radio-Locator search proved unsuccessful.
Any more ideas?

I don't believe so. the site says oldies... but any time i've driven through that signal, it has always been spanish.

They've been oldies for years but the last time I checked they were still running some Spanish language programming on the weekends.

The FCC map has the blue circle of KDHT reaching to Rockdale about 41 miles from College Station.
The contour for KPTY goes as far as Conroe, 56 miles from College Station.

With that said, you never know what kind of bounce the signal will get once it goes past the horizon.
Where it lands depends on at what elevation it was reflected back to earth.
They don't call it ''skip'' for nothing.
