I predict that whatever is done to the Q, it will start a new multitude of posts. Right now I am listening to WOMC and it is rockin. For the record , Dick Purtan AND FRIENDS is the OLDIES 104.3 daily morning show. Gary Bryan is only on Saturdays. At least that is what is on the website. Tampa Bay is a TOP 20 market. If CBS gives us less than something like WOMC----------they are F****G with this market.

If Detroit rates a better station, is it because CBS sees it as a market with more disposable income (Bail Out anyone)or do they think Tampa is just so slow and sleepy?

So far the GREATEST HITS are very Sixties intensive and the voice doing the liners is more hyper than we are used to here on the banks of the olde Bay. Can't wait till the jocks arrive. We might need fast actin Tinactin

LAME Q WATCH-----because spmebody has to do it. They have four voices doing liners and intros:

1) A real hyper old school Top 40 type

2) Normal male voice

3) Normal female voice

4) Mason

Maybe this could be a blog! This whole thing with Q is the most significant thing in this area since MAYOR BAKER KICKED GOLIATH DAVIS UPSTAIRS

They just said "Mason Dixon in the morning and then the hits of all time"------------Does this mean

1) Scott Shannon the rest of the day?

2) Nobody the rest of the day?

3) New jocks and Jack Miller?

They are using that raspy voice for jingles that goes WAAAAAAAAAy
back

This could be really great or a complete turkey.

Meanwhile COX should be inking the old Q people for the Eagle and WDUV

Unfortunately, Cox will never add live people to the voice tracking. I would be afraid if I was a jock over there that the hammer will fall on them next. The mid-day guy on The Bone, Slater, isnt even listed anywhere on their website. (or at least I can't find it). I wouldn't be surprised if they stay live in the am and pm drives on 97x and the Bone, and VT everything else eventually.

Here's Slater on the bone website under the personalities tab  http://theboneonline.com/inside/personalities

My sources say Mr. Radio Randy Kabrick convinced Bob Neal to voice track 24/7. That boy is a GENIUSE. :D

If we are talking about COX, voice tracking anybody would improve WXGL and WDUV when they are just a juke box. If Charlie Van Dyke is the voice on Q105 with the old school sound, I would call that a good start. Granted it proves nothin yet, but it could be a positive sign they have a clue. He is a legend and worked great stations. On the other hand, I wonder if Mason in the AM and the greatest hits all day portends something like WSJT. A local AM drive and a feed with possibly name jocks off the bird the rest of the day. I guess Charlie Van Dyke is a big a name in his field as Dave Koz is in "jazz". Jack Miller could be kept around for Saturday night and Sunday party shows and live promotions. The more I listen to Charlie Van Dyke, the more I wonder if evenings and overnights on WOMC are not VT'ed. THat voice is there too. I admit his saying "Ladies and gentlemen ,you are listening to (CKLW)-----------" on the top of the hour does bring back vestigial memories of great radio.

I guess Monday will generate even more Q105 posts--------Cox eat your heart out. Bringing back BTLS didn't even keep this much going this long.

If that JOJO KIncaid is what to expect, I hate to say it because people lost ther jobs-------but they might be on to something. He sounds really great .

 HOLY CRAP BATMAN! A GUY WITH PERSONALITY IN TAMPA BAY? NAHH.... IT'S NEVER WORK. WE ALL WANT ELEVATOR MUSIC WITH NO JOCKS, PLAYED BY A COMPUTER.

Seriously, if they bring him in and keep Jack Miller, I'm set. I won't need any of the other 4 pre-sets on my car radio.

IF Q 105 sounds like the JOJO aircheck and they use Charlie VanDyke for liners, I'm hooked. I won't listen to anything else except WDUV when I'm trying to sleep. Golly Sarge-----------maybe they do get at last. "I'm going to tell my friends and crank it up!

Wow... watching this clip brings back memories of Jon "Rock 'n Roll" Anthony who rocked Q105 just like this back in the '80s. Where are you Jon RnR?

You're right about that, Jon was a flamethrower of a jock.

Yes, both were owned by Edens back in the 80s.
