Susi 97.3?

I don't get it.
Station did a contest t o pick the "best mom" and the winner, Susi, got the station named after her for a day.

(Only works in a PPM market)

And yeah, they added rhythmic music to the playlist. It seems like after they removed @ from the name.

I freakin love this contest idea.. never crossed my mind before but already emailed it to my boss since we have a female heavy AC VAriety station in our cluster.

A contest like this, if you get it sponsored, costs you little in terms of $, and just some personell time but creates a bunch of good will nd some buzz

If I had to guess I feel like it might be to prepare for a possible future flip of 102 Jams like what B96 in Chicago did shortly before 104.3 Jams was flipped to sports talk

But Audacy already has an FM sports talker in San Francisco, 95.7 KGMZ ("The Game"). Yeah, they can blow up 102, and many of us would wonder what took them so long. But what then do they replace it with? Maybe a clone of L.A.'s The Wave, more female-friendly R&B? Maybe a clone of WCBS-FM or K-EARTH 101, now that iHeart's "Classic Hits 103.7" has chosen to go newer and harder? KCBS/KFRC already does all-news very well, usually coming in as #2 or #3 in a typical book. We already have (by my count) a half dozen stations on FM doing Spanish language something, not counting the 50-or-so over on the AM side. (Yeah, I'm exaggerating...) What would be left to replace it with on 102? Country? That's been tried and failed multiple times.

Hey, maybe there would finally be a spare signal to try an FM reboot of KGO!

It's more of the evolution of the Audacy Hot AC format. 100.7 Star and Mix 106.5 Baltimore already had rhythmic music on their stations.

I thought it was just a thing they did with Audacy Hot ACs. Give them female brand names and the same playlist. SF and Denver have Alice, Seattle has Emma, etc. Before I saw Lance's screenshot of the Susi contest, that's what I thought this was, a rebranding to Susi.

Good luck to them. Mikaela and Brianna are waiting...
