Suspect arrested in KOOP arson

You know, if the station had a sense of humor, they could concoct cool positioning statements like "At KOOP, we're on fire! ('Literally!' or someone in the background saying 'Not Again!' could be added here.) Or, "Our music is hot! REAL HOT!" Or they could even change their moniker to "Blazin' 91.7 FM."

Any other ideas? ;)

gee I would expect this to happen to a commercial station.

All that guy would have had to do was to buy the damn songs off iTunes or buy XM/Sirius. Idiot.

"He had a dream of a career in radio and was very disappointed about where it had led him"

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha welcome to radio pal

opps, now I should say more like dont drop the soap.

this guy is an idiot. I dont condone what he did but he could have at least had a more legit reason to burn the station down. Like the PD molested him, he was short changed on a paycheck (Opps he didnt get one, he was a volunteer), he was used and abused by the radio station in some way shape or form, a ego shot (someone told him he woud never make it in real radio), or something! I swear, if people wanted to and actually attempted to burn down stations over reasons like this or the idiotic "I didnt like the playlist" there wouldnt be a station left on this entire planet. Wonder what he would have done if he actually made it to commercial radio. Where you find yourself sitting in the studio wanting to pull your hair out on the crap that is being played over and over. All jocks go thru that.

In 2006, when the station suffered their first fire, several of their volunteer programmers featured music blocks of songs with the word "fire" in the song titles and/or songs referencing "fire."

About the station using "fire" as a marketing thing....this time around it would be in poor taste because it was mallicous and someone purposely did it. If someone made a goof or something that resulted in a fire then it would be ok...as long as no one was hurt in it.

The folks at KOOP don't seem to mind making light of the situation. Check out the web posting below on their site about a recent benefit billed as "Up in smoke," featuring songs about "fire", "fire", "fire."
