Suspended Michael Graham

Michael ticks of arab americans. Randall Bloomquist suspends him without pay. I am guessing that Randall will have to fire Michael again. Randall fired Michael at for WBT for something less.

Randall will protect himself first.

I always thought that the Prime Directive, as it were, of cutting-edge talk hosts was to be provocative, to engender discussion and to engage all aspects of an issue; I am, apparently, in error.

To broadcast with one ear on the studio phones and the other ear on the manager's hotline is hardly the best way to ensure a lively discussion.

The manager COULD have/SHOULD have invited members of the Islamic community to respond, to broker a fair and dispassionate discussion of the issues raised and to offer "balance". The manager in question responded like a sissy.

The knee-jerk response on the part of Mr. Bloomquist should be a clarion call to all OTHER talk-hosts at that station that, as Frazier Crane used to say..."I'm listening!"

Where have the managers/owners with cojones gone? They're certainly invisible in today's corporate weaseldom.

Just my humble opinion.

You consider his remarks at WBT less??! Hours after the shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado, Graham told listeners that the killing of athletes at the school was "one minor benefit of this otherwise horrible story."

Nice.

WMAL did the right thing in merely suspending him. That's a fairly mild punishment to remind him where the line is.

Being the gracious person that he is, Michael returned the favor by calling ABC execs "a bunch of suits".

(And I *like* Graham's work most of the time.)
