I just hope Cox will put the same effort into their new acquisitions (if they are indeed the buyer, which it seems they are) as they do with their San Antonio stations.
Comparing Cox SA and Cox Houston is like comparing Pauly Shore's acting to Marlon Brando's. One is so poor, there's no point in trying. The other is dominant.
Cox has recently made some changes to KLDE and of course to KKBQ (country) by adding a former alternative rock morning show. These have been nice changes and from the looks of things they appear to be transferring into higher success in the Arbitron diaries.
KKBQ has tied with KILT and at one point had a slight edge.
But KHPT and Country Legends, both Houston, are also examples of this companies "we don't really give a (BLEEP)" attitude.
When the try, their on-air product is some of the best in that market.
When they don't--the station becomes nothing more than a flop good for little more than roasting on boards like this.
