Sussex County NJ

I noticed when driving through Branchville, NJ & parts of Sandyston, NJ I seem to pick up New York City Stations. I was able to get WBLS in HD in Branchville. I am shocked. I can get NY stations in Vernon, Highland Lakes and parts of Sparta and Hardyston but never that far out in Sussex County. Even in cloudy weather on a flat road I could pick up Power 105.1 and Z100 both in HD. I wonder why that is that I can randomly pick up stations almost 70 miles away from the city?

When I used to go to the Poconos I went on Route 15. Once I passed Jefferson and entered Sparta, all NYC stations died. The mountains in Sparta most likely block line of sight from ESB. As I continue further into Sussex, NYC reception was spotty through Lafayette and that’s as far as I could go.

When you go through Sparta on Glen Road you have no issues getting NYC stations. Then it dies out. I was near Walpack Center, NJ and I at times got Z100 in HD. I even got K104 in Branchville!
