"Svengoolie" is coming.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svengoolie

There's the background, here's the scoop; NBC-Universal is helping give this Chicago-based show a quiet 10-week (I think) summer tryout in a handful of markets, including L.A. It will begin airing on KDOC Sat 6/29 at 9pm. They will be compleatly new shows, and the movies will be the original 30's and 40's Universal monster classics; Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf Man etc; a couple of the Abbott and Costello spoofs, and perhaps one or two Universial-released Hammer films as well. Personally, I hope a show like this does really well (It's been on forever in Chicago, the guy must be doing something right).

The first two shows out of the crypt will be The Wolf Man with Lon Chaney Jr. on 6/29, followed by Boris Karloff as The Mummy on 7/7.

Break out the popcorn ;D

Well, see for yourself......Just click on the "Webisode" on the far right corner.

On a side note, KDOC has now replaced it's entire Saturday night line-up, save for Hometime. A much-demanded (according to the e-mails anyway) complete run of the 1975-76 cult favorite Ellery Queen will begin this Saturday (6/29) at 8pm.

Someone sent me some tapes of this show--funny stuff and great (or bad) old movies. The orig Svengoolie
was Jerry G. Bishop who was on Southern Cal. radio not too long ago (a standards station); the current one
is Rich Koz. I remember they did a nice tribute to Ed Wood on one show.

Ol' "sven" looks pretty stupid to me so I won;t be watching, sorry! ::)

Well it looked like this rumor turned out to be not true, not until now. Svengoolie is on nationally on Me TV which I hear KDOC will be carrying.
