Swaggart picks up WQUA Citronelle

I guess it is goodbye Radio Disney and hello Jimmy Swaggart for the 102.1 serving areas northwest of mobile. Abc is ditching the station for 1.25 mill after I assume that the mobile coverage for Radio Disney was little to be desired.

Let's see:

Before: Tiny station in the swamp running 24/7 satellite fed dreck and listened to by no one.
After: Tiny station in the swamp running 24/7 satellite fed dreck and listened to by no one.

At least Swaggart's choir can sing better than Hilary Duff. :)

Noooo!!!!

My dream of building Mobile's #1 station for classic hip-hop/80s R&B/dance/traditional jazz/& pop-rock mashups...is dead.

Seriously though, how many religious-formatted stations does Mobile really need?
______________
There's nothing to see here.

Mobile actually doesn't have that many, at least on FM. There's Power 88, but all of the others (WOSM, WAJY, WPCS) are from Florida and Mississippi and have spotty coverage in the Port City. Either K-Love or AFR is getting a 10-watt translator near downtown; 102.1 would have been a good pickup for them. If K-Love ever comes in to Mobile, the competition with Power 88 will be very, very interesting!

Most of the stronger signals on the AM dial in Mobile are religious, but even a lot of those are daytime-only.
______________

I'd take Duff over Swaggart any day.. Heck I'd take dead air over Swaggart.

If K-Love comes to town Power 88 would be best to lean CHR and go after a younger crowd.

Power 88 already plays a great deal of non AC stuff durning their local hours, only time their very AC is durning the hours they run Salem's TCM.

They play stuff like Sarah Brendel, Superchick, Toby Mac, Stellar Kart and other stuff you'd not hear on an AC station like K-Love, when Power 88 is in Local mode.
