"SWEET LORETTA" THOMAS DIES

She was the wife of Jim Thomas (KAAM-1310, WFAA-570, KRRV, KDSX, KFJZ and others.) Anyone who ever listened to "70s Saturday Night" on KDMX or KBFB from 1993-2000 should recognize her name. She used to handle all the telephone requests, and Jim mentioned her often on the show every week. Loretta was 60. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Worked with Jim and Loretta. Lots of fun and very nice. She was always a hard worker, great to listeners who called in, and a pleasure to be around. Very sad to lose someone who was indeed "Sweet."

The last time I saw Jim was in the late '80's when he was in Corpus Christi at 93.9 (now KMXR). He was crazy about the coastal life and the good Mexican food, but he told me Loretta didn't care too much for Corpus Christi. But she loved Jim and stuck by him, and he let me know that he was grateful to have a wife life like her. I'm sad to hear the news; she was indeed a fine lady.

I still have my 70's Saturday night shirt that she gave me back in 1997. It was always fun to talk to her when she would answer over at Mix. She definitely knew her 70's music and could identify the song with only a few words. She was a very nice pleasant person and will be deeply missed.

That is so sad...I remember many Saturday afternoons doing the jock changover to Jim at Mix 102.9 for the Saturday 70's show...they would "move in" with all their CD's and stuff and she'd handle the "producer booth" over on the side. I didn't know her very well but she was always such a friendly and upbeat person. Our thoughts are with you Jim.
