Swimming in "The Lake"

Saw a big, shiny electronic billboard in downtown Cleveland, right across from the baseball field, which at that moment indicated that "playing now" was "One Headlight" by The Wallflowers. Well, I really like that song and hadn't heard it in a while, so I immediately switched stations on my car radio. So that advertising worked on me. I stayed with 106.5 until they began to play a Journey song who are a group I'm not particularly fond of. How does this billboard work? Is it connected to the station's system or is it connected to yes.com which is a place to go to find out what virtually every radio station is playing at the moment. Also, is this the only billboard of its type for the station?

I saw another one somewhere along the outerbelt while driving to Kent from Parma a few weeks back, displaying the current song. I thought it was pretty clever, no vague slogan or cutesy catchphrase, just "here's what we play, if you like it check it out". Could prove to be effective in today's instant gratification culture.

I have to say that The Lake is likely to surpass V107.3 in terms of audience and popularity. While V is unique and different, The Lake plays what a lot of listeners want - the hits. I'm using both because they each brought something different to Cleveland.

I hope to catch it during a commercial stop-set sometime. Can you imagine: "Playing now: COMMERCIALS". Then again, if they list which commercial is on, they might be able to sell added value to the clients.

I noticed this too John, there's one on State Road in Parma. Drove by the other day...West End Girls by Pet Shop Boys....I flipped over, they threw me in The Lake. BTW, during commercials it just has some generic message....though if they had a sense of humor it would say "Mike D'Mato Screaming About Nissans"

Now that "The Lake" has been on the air for over two months, what does everybody think?

I find it to be pretty good, although I would love to hear less repeats day after day.

I think they're all wet. They're just not very deep. Probably just keeping their heads above water. At least they're not calling themselves Bob.

Like 'em. Like the quy who writes the little jokes between records. Like the " you told us to play this " gimmick.
