Swing 1270 WHLD

That's one strange signal. It's there, then it's gone, then it comes back again in the Niagara falls area (Cdn side)

If you look at the pattern on the FCC website you see the night/pre-sunrise pattern is pretty tight especially to the east and northeast, so no surprise it's spotty in parts of the area.

I would love to hear either Tom Donahoe or Jim Patrick or Harv Moore doing a regular weekday shift on this station.

Not sure if that's possible, but I think it would be a hoot and give the station even more credibility and draw attention to the good things happening these days on 1270 AM.

Go Harv go!

The Saturday morning speciality show they run on THE RAT PACK is great radio.

Keep it up Swing 1270 AM. We're listening and enjoying it!

I would love to hear either Tom Donahoe or Jim Patrick...

Stand by for the "Pastrick" correction...but it won't be me, cause I don't read the Kramer posts anymore....

Patrick? Heh, wouldn't be the first time I heard that one. I've been called worse ;)

And so we shall!! :D

HDBG

(This damn sandbox has ALOT of feline traffic!! Why can't they just use their litter box? :D :D :D)

LOL, I actually forgot there's no more 1280 "airport radio" or the "business news" it was in it's last breath.
That helps strengthen the WHLD signal toward Toronto, but it doesn't always hold.

It's kinda like buying dollar store batteries instead of the name brand, only to find that the battery is strong, then it just dies right down!

Three parties attended so far this weekend (two yesterday and just arrived at the third today) and ALL three hosts have Swing 1270 AM on to set the mood.

Sure, the median age is probably 55-ish for these gatherings, but I found it interesting.

The news that Swing is on the air for this demographic is spreading like wildfire in WNY. Hopefully the Arbitron ratings will reflect that.

Maybe if possible the station could sponsor a dance; possibly with a live 'big' band!

Then again, maybe, while some may not have a problem, the majority of people listening to "Swing" are just too old to dance any longer. Could be just a big "listening" party. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

There's a terrific big band from Rochester they could hire: Spanky Haschman's Swing Orchestra.

Party today was playing tunes from 104.1 FM and I kindly reminded the host about the new format on 1270 AM.

HOST: "Oh yeah that's right! The wife and I love that station. Harv Moore is on there. He's great!"

So now we have Swing 1270 AM blaring through the two speakers of a FISHER entertainment center in the garage.

They just played Pat Boone, Nat King Cole and as we rode to the party in the car heard a classic from Frank Sinatra!

Rox, just reacting to Klutch00's post. I guess this Klutch person wasn't the "hepcat" he/she appeared to be. I guess to really be in the know, I need to stick with you.

Yugo

You're correct, I'm not a hepcat! Moreover, I don't live in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls region anymore (though I was born there and left as a young child). I do like to go dancing to any of the following styles swing, ballroom, country and Latin; and I have gone dancing where they feature a live big band in my area (Baltimore-Washington corridor). Hence, my reason for suggesting that the station sponsor such a dance. IMNSHO I think it would be a good way for the station to gain greater visibility particularly with non-regular listeners. It could even be a way for the station to make some money.
