SxSW New York Bands & NO Modern Rock Outlet For Them

I was cruising the SxSW website yesterday, and couldn't hep thinking there was a lot of Modern/Alternative Rock & Pop. With so much talent I would have thought it was a good breeding ground. So my question is, with evdence that there is a market, could an Indie style station appeal to the New York audience? I say Indie, because it is actually challenging in it's approach to the format. With a strong signal, would it work there?
