Syndicated casualties are starting to line up ...

There was a glut of these shows for a while. Of course there are a bunch of replacements waiting in the wings, including Kelly Clarkson. But at the same time, some stations are replacing these shows with expanded local news.

to be fair, in the DFW area, KDFW airs Page Six TV at midnight and reairs it at 1:30 AM. i bet it gets replaced by a reairing of the 9 PM newscast.

as for Pickler and Ben, it was only seen through the CMT airings as it never been cleared to air in Dallas.

not surprised about "Page Six TV" - it was kinda a bit "edgy" at times....but disappointed about "Pickler & Ben"s cancellation - the problem with that show was it was too "nice" - I like "nice", but Hollywood is generally not into the "nice" end of things (look when Whoopi tried to do a late-night interview show ON HER OWN - which I liked)....

Putting your show on a DT2 subchannel in NYC and Los Angeles, like Pickler & Ben, isn't going to help ratings. And besides, Kellie is more 'unknown' in the country world than say, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. If they were doing a talk show, the ratings would be higher due to popularity.
Page Six TV was seen here at 1:30 in the morning. The show was plauged by the loss of John Fugelsang last March, and they struggled throughout this season.
So here in central WA, KEPR/KIMA gets to program yet another 9AM show next fall. In this decade, they've shown...

America's Court
Anderson Live
The Test
Meredith Vieira
Harry
Pickler & Ben

all at the 9:00am timeslot. Talk about the death slot...

This is interesting food for thought. I don't think there's some institutional issue with "nice." Kelly & Ryan, Rachel Ray, Ellen...off the top of my head, those all seem to fall within the nice camp. Open it up to cable and you've got "Home and Family" as well in that vein. Not sure about Steve Harvey's current show--haven't seen a moment of it.

I do wonder if the stations where those shows tended to find homes (and this is a broad statement, with plenty of local "exceptions") are the major stations in given cities, where expanded news eats up some of the slots. Not a lack of "nice," but a lack of time. On the flip side, the swamps where Maury, Springer and such tend to coalesce are stations with lesser news presence, and more hours to fill with those types of programs.

Isn't Syndicated shows starting to trend downwards in recent years though. in recent years though and yes as mentioned local TV stations in some parts of the country are expanding Local News.

Syndicated Shows Endure Viewership Drop by Wayne Friedman , March 13, 2019
With half the 2018-2019 U.S. syndication TV season completed, viewership for top shows has declined by mid-single-digit percentages versus a year ago -- similar to the declines of broadcast and cable TV network programming drops.

CBS Television Distribution’s “Judge Judy” slipped 1% to 10.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen live program plus time-shifted viewing from September 3, 2018 through March 3, 2019.

Three game shows placed just behind “Judy” also declined slightly -- CBS’ “Wheel of Fortune” losing 1% to 10.1 million; CBS’s“Jeopardy” down 2% to 9.8 million; and Twentieth Television’s “Family Feud” falling 6% to 9.6 million.

Top entertainment magazines were down a bit more: CBS’ “Inside Edition” was 2% lower to 4.5 million; CBS’ “Entertainment Tonight” down 6% to 4.3 million; NBCUniversal’s “Access Hollywood” giving up 10% to 1.78 million; and Warner Bros. “TMZ” off 14% to 1.76 million.

I liked Page Six TV was glad that it got a better timeslot this year than it's first season which was on WZZM at 10:30AM I think it was largely do because The Insider was canceled. It is now on at 11:00PM on WXSP.

Page Six TV aired at 1:30am in my market of Erie, PA. Will Kellie Pickler get a new record contract and head back to the studio?

Dr. Phil, "Vivica' version? Not surprised. Just another ripoff of Dr. Phil. And we never got to see one episode in Yakima because no one cleared it. But the topics were very similar. Husband abuses alcohol. Mother abandons child and parties every weekend. Daughter refuses to get a job and wants everyone to do everything for her. Blah blah blah.
Why The Doctors is still on the air, I don't understand either. Just to fill one hour of syndicated programming at this point, I guess.

Dr Phil titles seem to resemble Jerry Springer now

I Look in the Mirror & See a Monster
My 45-Year-Old Brother is a Loser Who Lives in His Childhood Bedroom
I Treat My Pet Pigs Better Than My Noisy Eating Fiance

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but Sinclair shut down its syndicated KidsClick TV block for children three weeks ago. That leaves PBS as the last major player.

I have a few reasons:
1. Today's kids just want streaming.
2. The block was only available on Sinclair's main feeds. And on a sub-channel with low viewership.
3. Station programmers hate cartoons. Except reruns of Fox's series, which aren't for kids.

[If you want cartoons OTA, get Light TV, PBS, and/or Qubo.]

Sad, but I knew it wouldn't last. Didn't have a chance. It's not 1989 anymore. Kids watch SpongeBob on their mommy's iPad, Hulu, Netflix, you name it. A few days ago, I was in a waiting room where two of the patrons were a mom and young son - he was watching a cartoon on a tablet. (Without headphones! Please put some over his ears so we don't have to hear it! One BIG annoyance I have with people in public places...)

Yeah, I miss the good old days.

Were there any survivors of KidsClick? Just Miraculous Ladybug, whose third season premiered in its native France last week (and later Netflix in the USA).

On TV: The Pink Panther is already airing on Light TV with other series by MGM and DHX. Miraculous moved to the Disney Channel after KidsClick went under.

Streaming: Pac-Man and Miraculous Ladybug are already streaming on Netflix, Rocket Monkeys on Tubi, and The Pink Panther on Vudu.

Also newer TV's are

Most likely to be streamers and not on cable and OTA. I don't know how many people are watching shows are on streaming TV's or on tablets but its clear that the kids programming are going to fade away from syndication. Unless litton productions a division of Hearst Television is doing E/I programs syndicated to local TV stations on the weekends though.
