According to The Boston Globe, syndicated talker, Jay Severin, beat out Michael Graham afternoon talk show on WTKK.TKK is trying to spin it to look as if Graham show is viable but it looks like people are only turning on 96.9 at night.WTKK's GM,Phil Rado, states that Michael Graham is still building an audience which may be true. Graham is picking up popularity with Don Imus who has had Graham on his show a few times. Does Michael Graham have enough time to survive?

There is something about his voice that just turns me off. I don't know what it is, but I can't listen to him. It's odd. Not content, but the voice!

Not fond of Graham's voice (prefer Howie's show anyway)--slightly raspy tenor. Severin OK in small doses--sometimes I think his (Jay's) voice isn't what I'd like to hear but if the subject interests me I'll tune in.Of course most nights I'll tune in to the Sox at 7 or so anyway.

You can tell Graham was a former standup comic. Not however, a good one. You know? He's doesn't have the wit the Severin does. He often tries to make jokes that are just bad. Not offensive. Just bad. Like your boss when he's had too many cocktails. Or an annoying uncle at Thanksgiving. He's not naturally funny. And yes, his voice is a little irritating.

Michael Graham mentions "96.9 FM Talk" and "you're up next on 96.9 FM Talk" and "we'll be right back on WRKK 96.9 FM Talk" far too often. Too bad he never gets into a good back-and-forth with any callers, it's always "soundbyte and drop" again and again. The goal of his show seems to be to mention the station as much as possible and take as many callers as possible, not to do a great show.Jay Severn, on the other hand, will draw callers out and hit 'em as hard as possible. That's what Michael Graham needs to get Jay's fans.

Funny how much Graham has taken over for Severin* commercials for Countertop Shop, Ken's Steak House, etc* live appearances at F1 Boston* spots on Imus
