As we remember Bob Newhart, which of your stations aired reruns of his 70s series The Bob Newhart Show and his 80s series Newhart? During the late 70s & early 80s, all the NBC O&Os aired them following The Mary Tyler Moore Show (also distributed by Viacom). WGN Ch 9 Chicago aired reruns of both of his sitcoms. WGN aired the 70s version from 1986-87 & 1990-93 and the 80s version from 1989-90. Only the superstation part of WGN rerun Newhart from 1995-96 & 2008-10.

I just remember both series being run on Nick at Nite in the 80s and 90s
I can tell you KPLR in St. Louis ran The Bob Newhart Show in January 1986 because that's what I was watching when news of the Challenger disaster broke.
Have either of Bob Newhart’s shorter lived sitcoms (Bob and George and Leo) ever shown up anywhere in recent years? Those originally ran on CBS.

Getting to see them this weekend in Catchy, I have absolutely no reason why they would ever see the light of day.

I don't recall ever watching George and Leo, but Bob was pretty damn bad. Newhart's character was written as a surly little man that was the opposite of the persona he'd spent his professional life developing. In my area I can't remember seeing syndicated reruns of either The Bob Newhart show or Newhart locally. I mainly remember seeing them at periods on cable, but mainly with the first show. I can't remember seeing Newhart even on cable except for a short period on TNN and on WGN America's Out of Sight Retro Night. I think it's been posted that Newhart was on Decades/Catchy Comedy but that isn't in my area.
Bob Newhart has aired on KCCI 8 (CBS) and KDSM Fox 17 and Newhart has aired on only KCCI 8 (CBS). In the fall of 1989 KCCI was airing reruns of Newhart while KDSM was airing reruns of Bob Newhart.
Was looking at Amazon reviews for the all-in-one DVD (currently unavailable; ironically, a blessing, IMO), and the 1-star reviews seem to reflect your thinking (IOW, I agree; I wouldn't touch it for love or money).
Never saw George and Leo.
I enjoyed season 1 of Bob, when it was focused on comic books. Mark Evanier, a longtime writer for both comics and TV comedies, did a good job. Cynthia Stevenson, as Bob's daughter, was a scene-stealer, and recurring guest appearances by Tom Poston, Bill Daily, and Dick Martin(who also directed quite a few episodes), made for a watchable, if not great, sitcom.
When they dropped that aspect of the show, and the bulk of the cast, in season 2(and Bob's character returned to greeting cards), they also added Betty White and Jere(Dear John) Burns, which should have helped.
However, they apparently changed to younger writers, who provided weak material that not even a cast of sitcom vets could save.

When you don't know how to write funny material for Betty White, you're doing it wrong.
I think it was just too soon after Newhart and Golden Girls. BW did yet another failed mid-90s sitcom, with Marie Osmond shortly after.
"Bob" didn't have much of a chance against ABC's TGIF block. And whoever said the character was too cantankerous was right. Newhart once said he was really like that, but it was not what the public was used to seeing.
As for the two classic Newhart shows, WFMY Greensboro used to show the '70s "Bob Newhart Show" at noon (no local news then), and the '80s "Newhart" after the 11 PM edition of News 2. Mary Tyler Moore and Carol Burnett were also rerun on the station; it had had Mary, Bob, and Carol on Saturday nights in the '70s, In the Triad, however, All in the Family was rerun on WXII and M*A*S*H on WGHP.

I had forgotten about this but 80's Newhart was on Antenna TV a few years back but again only for a short time. IIRC it was on late night so I didn't get to see it as often because of that.
In post #6 it was mentioned, almost as an aside, that both of the older shows ran on Catchy. I just want to say it more explicitly. The Bob Newhart Show runs five nights a week at 9:30p PT, and Newhart follows at 10:00p PT. I don't know if there are separate East and West feeds of Catchy, so it may be on even later (12:30a/1:00a ET) if you're in ET or CT, but those shows are available if Catchy airs in your market.
But it had Cynthia Stevenson. She was great. I've liked her in pretty much everything I've seen her in since.
She also had a friend played by Lisa Kudrow. So unpleasant that when she (the actress) got a sitcom, I made sure not to watch.
Lisa Kudrow played one of The Daryl's wives in the Newhart finale. Tge ome the Daryl's yell "QUIET!" To. WOFL in Otlabdo aired both The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart . The former in the afternoons and the latter late afternoons.
Interesting. Though I didn't know who she was until Newhart's later series.
