Glad I no longer live in Houston, You guys got it bad (except for the Restaurants down there and grocery store choices) Comcast is the CATV and Cable Internet monopoly, The FM radio pretty much stinks (except for Majic 102 when they play old school) for music, and now no Simpsons on OTA?

". I sure sure miss those delicious places to eat there, and all open so late many 24/7. I miss HEB! I hear they sell whataburger ketchup now in stores. You can't find tomatoes with okra in a can here in Phoenix... :-\
I miss Time Warner Cable Houston-
(my old job, they were a super company to work for) & wonder what changes took place when I left right after Comcast took over. Many of us left, for no reason other than we were afraid of what changes were to take place. At TimeWarner they had the option letting us work from home- and our perqs were awesome! ALL free catv channels they offered (including the foreign ones), half off phone service, and business class HiSpeed internet!- up to four HDTV DVRs in home. It was a great company to work for. Good times. Even during Rita some of us were so loyal to TWCable- we showed up for work during the hurricane, can you beat that? By law (inclement weather clause) I could have stayed home & received full pay, but many of us wanted to help out. Everything was closed- no gas to be had, no food anywhere, tumbleweeds blowing- nuttin- like the apocalypse. I was already prepared with full tank of gas etc so figured I may as well clock in and give my assistance. We had our HUGE generators going that were right outside the head end there. It was in a rather crime ridden N Houston/Tidwell area, I am surprised our cabling and all wasn't secured behind some kind of Homeland Security gate. The entirety of Greater Houston was serviced at our headend and that included even Rosenberg too- (BIG area Comcast covers) and all those satellite dish receivers and the massive baby thigh thick cable was right there in public, not behind any special gates.
Anyway, the CEO(?) COO? of Time Warner South showed up while we were at work during the hurricane- to show us his appreciation (how the heck did he GET there to the campus?) he
himself broke the lock on the concessionaire owned lunch room (not ours, another company property) and "liberated" all the food he could get his hands on that was in that building. He came onto the work floor with a food cart like an airline attendant, in his lovely suit and "TV weatherman hair" and passed out all the snacks: chips, cookies, drinks, fruit- and he let it be known he really committed a burglary to get us that food. What a guy! We really appreciated it. Like I said, the entire Houston area was like a post nuclear city. But we kept the wheels turning!
