Syndicated talk show hosts meet with Bush

::)

If there was REAL DIVERSITY in radio...we would have:

Afro-American, German, and other international music...roundtable nightly discussions from the BBC...and at least one or two stations that program MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS & FILM SCORES 100% of the time!

If people really wanted diversity, Air America would be a major player, rather that filler on smaller AM signals ;D

we've said it a thousand times, let's say it again. WBUR is on 50,000 watts and decimates 96.9 and 680 AM in the "ratings", though they aren't allowed to show up.

Clear Channel puts Air America/Jones Network/Boston's Progressive Talk on a small signal with no chance of getting an audience intentionally. They also have horrific advertisements and worse P.S.A.s. This is hardly a level playing field. We are in a Blue state being force fed Howie Carr's b.s. on a 50,000 watt station - his hypocrisy is evident when he bashes a woman he dubs "Muffy", but embraces his victim because a black man is running for Governor. He will embrace Jack E. Robinson because Robinson is such a walking parody.

:p

varulven...

You bring some very good points, but as most of us already know...when you relinquish 4 hours of programming to a lunatic...at least one or two of his opinions or comments are gonna...err...'come out wacky' over the airwaves!

Ingraham and Hannity don't always agree with Bush; he's trying though to firm up support for the party.
(Howie has had his differences with the Pres. too--cue that "temporary guest workers" cut. He's not a rubber stamp and sometimes sounds like
"Bush is the lesser of the two evils")
Hannity has said he considers himself a conservative first, then a Republican. (And Glenn Beck, heard
once per week on WRKO, is also "conservative but not necessarily Republican"). Hannity & Ingraham have
criticized Bush on immigration...and Hannity's TV partner, Alan Colmes, has said in the past that he will take Democrats to task--he did with Clinton during the White House days--when needed.

Could we call Franken, Malloy, Rhodes, et al Democratic propaganda?

AAR by the way is funded mostly by Dem/liberal activists (Soros, Rob "Where The Hell's My Money?"* Glaser) etc while conservative radio is supported by
"advertisers"...the same companies that won't advertise on AAR because they don't want to be on a station
that slams them ("big business", Wal-Mart, etc.)

*--a song by Mojo Nixon on the Root Hog or Die CD, IIRC. It's about how he got scammed by a club
owner. Could easily be applied to the Real Networks CEO who is out $10 million thanks to AAR.

I'm not sure going further to the right on an issue like Immigration constitutes "disagreeing with the President" as much as pandering to your base.

Do you honestly believe that broadcasting companies would defer millions of dollars in potential revenues so they can force feed Red State propaganda to a blue state? The other signals may be weaker in the outskirts of the market...but they come in loud in clear in center city area, which tends to be the area most often diaried.
BTW, How can you be sure WBUR is so widely listened to, if it's not rated? You can't base that stuff on anecdotal evidence...you need actual numbers for that argument to have any standing.
Incidentally, Bob Edwards was always considered the most listened to morning personality in the country, far more than Stern, so public radio outrating commercial radio is not really a novelty in most, if not all markets.

1)There are hardly millions of dollars in potential revenues from AM 1430; they are trying to make their other properties more valuable by pulling a smaller signal, literally, off the market.

2)WBUR's ratings are available; they aren't lumped in with the commercial ratings and we can't quote them here.

Will they discuss that October is turning into the deadliest month in Iraq?? Will they discuss how many are permanently brain damaged?
Which was done intentionally to cut down on fatalities. Will they discuss how much it will cost to suport said brain injured? Will they discuss how much it will cost just to support the ones who cannot be productive members of society?

I have a relative who is a pilot and does rescue missions in Afghanistan, (I did not disagree with that endeavor, Afghanistan)but, this other endeavor, and we know till the monstrosity, which is the embassy larger than Vatican City is completed, oh, what the heck a few more just blown to pieces.

WBUR does get better numbers than most AM stations here in Boston, I've seen the breakdowns.

Then he's nothing but a liar, because if he really considered himself a conservative, he would be disagreeing with W on just about everything. The people running the Executive Branch these days are not conservatives. They're fascists, bent on grabbing as much governmental power as they can and not giving a damn about either the Constitution or the people. They keep us in line by keeping us scared of our "enemies," when they're the real enemies.

Conservatives believe in smaller government, less taxation, no deficits, staying true to the Constitution and the intent of the founders, and keeping government's omnipresent nose out of the people's private business. For once, just once, I would like to hear a TRUE conservative talk show host take on the administration and raise the curtain on these hypocrites.

I have too, at least from the winter/spring book. The only AM station that beat WBUR in the 12+ was WBZ, who WBUR beat in the 25-54, and WBUR beat WRKO in both of those demos. I haven't seen the summer/latest non-comm yet.
