Syndicated Vs. Local

I hear on-site local announcers making those same mistakes,

That raises an question. If a station subscribes to a copyrighted, generic canned format developed in some other city, and hires DJ's and newscasters from other markets to move in to handle all over-the-air voice work, does the fact that those carpetbaggers (who think the city north of McKeesport is North Ver SIGH and not ver SALES or that the place north of Heidelberg is CAR negee and not car NEG ee) are talking into microphones that are located in a ZIP code that begins with 152 make it a "live and local" station?

I'm assuming you refer to content, Realist. But you'll correct me if I'm wrong. It USED to mean local news, local information, local weather, local sports, all done by local talent. Nowadays, there's so many gray areas. I think the current definition of local means 'regionally or nationally managed with local people behind the scenes to help us out with phonetics'.
